Default Trunk Lid Extremely POOR Fit

The trunk lid on my 2009 Stallion is the worst fitting thing I've ever encountered on any vehicle.
It sticks up at least 3/8" on each side, at 90 degree turn. There is also a 3/4" gap across the bottom of the trunk.
I took it in to the local dealer (Leola Motor Trike, PA) and they talked with TMS about the adjustment. TMS said some fit good and some don't.
    How's that for a response to a customer with a $20,000 vehicle.
Leola made a few adjustments and it still looks crappy.
Anyone out there know of anyone that is able to correct this problem?
I wouldn't be so concerned, but it's the first thing everyone notices and comments about, and it also continues to bother me that TMS cares less.

I readjusted mine to not only fit better but close easier. Mark the brackets in the trunk with some kind of tape so you know where it was to begin with. If you move the lid back(towards the bumper) so you have about a 1/4" to 3/8" gap at the top/back it may help close easier. Moving the lid down will help with the corner fit, but make sure you don't "rub" the edges when opening or closing. Mine now fits better and I don't have to slam it shut !!

From your photos, it appears that the trunk lid is not closed as tight as it should. Assuming the latch is in alignment and the lid does latch properly, I would devote my attention to the part of the latch mechanism that is not attached to the lid, the inverted "U" shaped piece. I would see if that piece could be shortened somehow by adjustment, i.e.

by shortening the legs of the "U". Isn't that piece like a U bolt with the legs having threads? TMS should be able to tell you or your dealership if that piece is adjustable. Good luck...!
I agree with PMAR6004 looks like it is not latching correctly, looks good at the top front corners.

I took my trunk off when I painted stripes on my Stallion and it was some trouble to get it adjusted back. The bottom latch plate looks like where the adjustment need to be made. I'm sure if you can't get a better answer, you could take it to most any body shop and they would be able to get it looking better.

Hi it appears to me that you need to bring down the "U" latch on the body. It is attached from underneath. You will have to snake your arm up between the radiator and the grill work.

is your "09" fiberglass or plastic? The fiberglass ones are hand laid and parts sometimes do not fit as nicelt as the newer plastic bodies. I think you can get that adjusted a lot better it will just take some work.

CUNDEL has #523 which he says is 09' therefor it is a ABS plastic.
mine is #538 and is 09' and is ABS plastic.
from the 3 pics he showed showing his trunk lid it does not show enough of the body to show seams and you can not tell if ABS plastic or fiberglass from the pics.
08's are fiberglass and 09's are ABS plastic

Thanks for all the input. My Stallion has a plastic body. I am the second owner and the warranty will run out in March so I was hoping to get this eye-sore fixed, however I personally don't think Leola wants to put in the time and effort it would take to try and satisify me .
I personally called TMS about the fit on the trunk lid. They told me NOT to adjust it myself, if I were to break something it would void the warranty. So, that's when I made the apppointment to have Leola look into the problem.
There are a number of shims/washers under the the inverted "U" shaped catch. TMS told Leola NOT to remove any of them.
I'm going to look deeper into the situation and see if I can do a better job of adjusting it myself or take it to a local body shop. Wish me Luck!
