Can anyone tell me why you shouldn't shoot rifled slugs thru a rifled barrel?
Or have I been misled? Thanks

I have a rifled barrel for my 12 ga shotgun to shoot slugs
Hisst
If u are burnin gas an killin bugs........u must be havin a good time
If you have a rifled barrel, try the new saboted slugs. Much more velocity and accuracy.
Rifles slugs going down a rifled barrel gum up the rifling very fast. Like two shots fast. Rifled barrels are pitched to impart spin to a pumpkin ball slug at a set rate. Rifled slugs are pitched to a slower spin to stabilize the slug through the different chokes (modified, improved cylinder, open bore, not a good idea to shoot slugs through Full choke barrels)

Just use non rifled slugs and save money. You could also Increase CUP to a fatal level after several shots. A Lewis Lead Remover will get the lead out and save the barrel if you have fired riffled slugs in a rifled barrel. Danger! Danger!
Thanks Guido. This is the Comannche pistol and all I could get at the time were the rifled
slugs. I fired it twice with them. Next question....would "000" be OK ? and do you think
the 45 LC cleaned out the lead ? Thanks again.
The 000 buck ( 36 caliber) will function fine in the Comanche( .454 caliber). If you can shoot 45 Long Colt, why are you trying to shoot 410 slugs?

No, only shoot non rifled or sabot slugs in a rifled barrel. lets say just for instance your barrel is a 1-5 twist, and the rifled slug produced a 1-8 twist, not only will you damage the barrel, but the slug will have either more, or less twist than it's designed to use, making it unstable and inaccurate.Rifled slugs are specifically designed to be used in non rifled barrels, the slugs are made to accomodate the twist the slug itself developes in the barrel in order to function correctly.
Some people will never get what you are saying... It's best to just walk away before the storm! ThumbUp
Just checking to see if there was any difference in wrist damage!
