Headlight visor

I don't know if it's just me or what. I have another beef with Harley and want to check with everyone to see if you have had the same experience.<br />

I bought the headlight and runnung lights visors. I have had them on all my Glides(I really like the look). Well I tried installing the headlight visor (2012 TG) the other night. It is a piece of cake to do, I've done it many times. This time when I got done, the visor was real loose and moved all around. I took it to the dealer to see why it wouldn't install correctly. When I went back they handed me a bill for $24. I asked what that was for. They said it was for an o-ring and a couple springs they had to order.

They told me that Harley updated the visor mounting with parts from 1960) WHAT THE %$#@!! I have to buy parts from 1960 in order to fit something onto a 2012 Harley motorcycle???<br />
I said there is nothing about that in the catalog OR the visor instructions. <br />

What I want to know is, is that correct? Has anyone else installed the visor and had to buy these extra parts to make it fit correctly? Or am I being played?<br />
If that's correct I'll still be upset, but at least I will know it's not just me that has to pay for this unexpected cost.

Hey GaryD... I put the identical visors on my '11 last fall. The running light units went on nice and snug. But the headlight visor was loose also. I took it apart again and put it back together to make sure I did everything correctly. Still a little loose but not as bad. I just kept wiggling it around on there and tightening the set screw tight and it is finally snug now. Seems to be fine. When I bought it, they didnt say anything to me about an upgrade part either. Will see what it does when I put in LED lights next month.

Whick visor did you buy? Ron put my visors on with no problems.

Part# 67751-91T standard chrome visor with the gold wingled logo thats been around for at least 20 years.

All the other visors that I've installed were very tight and didn't move around at all.

My visor was a little loose too.Did the same as Trent.I think your dealer put it to you.

Hmm...Mine don't have the gold winged logo, just the plain chrome, so they are different from yours. I know the actual visor over the light area on yours is a lot thinner than mine, but I don't know how the actual ring compares.

Same deal on my 09 put 3m tape on it in ring easy fix.

Put the set on my 2012 TG. No problems, nice and snug.

Cybyrd1, did you have to buy these extra parts to install your headlight visor???

I know when I installed mine, it stated that I would have to replace the trim rings. That was on a 2004 Ultra, you think they would have corrected that problem by now. Thats why it's best to check out Kuryakn, I think you should call Customer Service........

tis, I think you're confusing the lights.
You had to replace the headlight trim ring?????? Nothing says you have to replace the headlight trim ring.

I know I have to replace the trim rings on the passing lights, but not the headlight. There isn't even a headlight visor trim ring replacement in the catalog.

That's the sheet that came with my visor. I noticed one thing, it mentions a couple rubber bumpers. There are no bumpers in my headlight housing.

That and needing 52 year old parts scare me.

there are rubber bumpers in the passing light trime rings. maybe thats what they are referring to.

The rubber bumpers are on the headlight instruction page, not the passing lamps. See the link on Trikermutha's post.

No, just the pieces parts that came in the package from the HD dealership.

Just got back from the dealer. I returned all the visors and headlight modulator
($200) due to the attitude of the tech explaining (telling me)why I have to have these extra 50 year old parts to make my visor fit the headlight on a modern 2012 Harley.

Hate those head light modulators! Had a guy with one on his Lehman/Honda. Used to drive me crazy. Always wanted to ride in back, and always left that damn thing winking and blinking in my mirrors. Guess it would have been about as bad to follow him, his tails and break lights also flashed.

I hate being in front of one also, but they do get the attention of drivers coming at you and making a left turn in front of you.
