Air Pressure

Just got back home in AR from picking up my Trike in SC. Rode most of the way with too little air in tires all around. I put 28 psi in rear (205-70R-15) and I put 40 psi in front tire. (130-70R-18) Rode much better at that pressure.
Does that sound right on correct PSI or am I under or over inflated?

Deuce, we run 24 & 40, two up pulling a trailer and have not had any problems. Could probably help my mileage if I raised the rears a bit, but it rides and handles well at those pressures. If it feels good to you then it must be the right pressure. Enjoy your new ride.

I run 36 front and 24 rear all the time. 90% of the time I ride 2 up and loaded to the gills.

F40 and R28 is on the label my Roadsmith installer put in my trunk and 3/4 of the time I ride solo. I'm comfortable with that.

CSC should have given you recommendation for their trike since each is different.

Also, notice you're still running standard front tire since you labeled it as a radial. If you don't know already most of us run a sport bike rear tire which is biased ply; the two most popular being the Battleax BT-45 or the Michelin Pilot Activ.

After you wear out the front you might consider this change as it will improve steering effort and get much longer mileage.

Thanks for the information and suggestions. Bought this 2003 Honda Goldwing with a Champion trike kit on it just a couple of days ago. The guy I bought it from had just put all new tires on. I will definitely look at changing the front tire when the time comes.

Sounds about right. CSC recommended 40 and 25 on mine.

My dealer "East Coast Cycle Center" of Bensalem, Pa. told me to put 36 in front and 26 in the rear. I have the Bridgestone Excedra radial in front. That is the tire they suggested.

I want to ammend the dealer statement as what tire pressure to put into the tires. The RECOMMEND 36/26 since it is in the middle of the average air pressures people use. They are not saying this is the best tire pressure, but it is in the middle of the scale. Too much air, too little air, bias ply, radial, reverse rear tires, etc. LOL. Life in the fast lane.

Champion recommends 20-25 on rear. Get a digital guage which are usually rated most accurate. I keep 41 in front.
