Has anyone installed the hogtunes amp on there Tri GLide?

At hwy speeds it hard for me to hear the stock system.

I do have the Hogtune speakers which I really liked.

I like to hear my GPS and stereo while I am driving. I depend on the speach of the GPs sytem to guide me. Dont like to take my eyes off the rode while driving in the chicago area. Its like the indy 500 the way the drivers are around here.

Ever been stopped at a light and some kid driving his daddy's Toyota pulls up next to you listening to Big Daddy Gansta Rappa! Weren't you a bit annoyed having your eye balls rattled by that idiot with his radio turned up so loud??? I'm guessing you don't wear a helmet, or don't use the CB connector. For about 30 bucks they make an adapter that plugs into CB connector and reduces it to a standard 3.5mm ear bud jack. You can turn up the volume to pain level, so loud your eyes pop out and no one but you will hear it. No problem with wind noise, great fidelity, and the world won't know you are listening to Frankie Yankovitch and the Polka Bandits. For a couple more bucks you can get a bluetooth transmitter, plug that into the adapter and use wireless ear buds or head phones.

Or, you can spend several hundred dollars, and let everyone within a block or two listen to YOUR radio.

Good Luck

Screwball, you just discribed me. :D My nickname is Musicman and I believe in sharing my music with the world - especially when young punk playing Gansta Rappa comes next to me - then he learns every word in the Marine Corps Hymn.

I have always replaced the stock speakers with HogTunes. For years that was all I needed even at highway speeds with E.A.R. ear plugs. No problem. When I bought the TG and having all this SS money burning a hole in my pocket, I decided I wanted to try the HogTunes Ultra set up - 2 front speakers, 2 rear speakers, , 2 woofers in the lowers and the amp.

All I can say is WOW!

To tell you the truth I keep the volume at less then half way now, otherwise my ears bleed, but once in a while it's nice to know I can play with the big boys. :D

One last thing - I have a police siren recorded too - that really gets your attention. I really have to watch where I play that though.

GAry, I wanted to improve my stock system as well and did some asking about the Hogtunes Amp and a mechanic at the local Harley dealership told me they have had a lot of issues with them cutting out and/or overheating. I was going to go with the Hogtunes Big Ultra kit but decided to go with a system from Paul Yaffee's Bagger Nation. That system is 6.5" front speakers and 5.25 rear and the amp and all necessary wiring. It was $629.00 and shipped the same day. I had Hogtunes speakers in my 09 Streetglide and loved them. Even at highway speeds I could hear them.

Sorry I am not sticking ear buds in my ears..I have respect to turn down the music while at a stop light etc. But if I am on the open rode I will turn it up. Plus I can still hear if someone blows the horn to wave or something else... :censored:

Roadrage, I haven't heard or read about any problems with HogTunes or for that matter any of the aftermarket sound systems. Anything is better then stock - even Harley has come out with a "better" system.

I only paid $535 for my complete system (speakers, amp, woofers) with my HTT discount. I've read or heard some acoustic expert say bigger fairing speakers don't work because you have to funnel the sound down to the small openings so you don't get the full impact of the bigger speakers. Makes
sense to me.
The true 7" woofers really do make a difference.

Bottom line is anything is better then stock no matter whose system you get.

I'm even thinking on trying Harleys Bass Port setup for the rear speakers.
If anyone has those - do they help??

Trikermutha, I'm with you. I never had any luck with earbuds staying in my ear and they are uncomfortable. I don't want to stick anything in my ear - other then the foam E.A.R. plugs.

Thanks Gary..

Yea I was just looking at a bit more power at hwy speeds..I really like my GPS heard thru my speakers too..That is a great option in my book..I am not into the cell phones while riding my bike that is just not right..It bad enough watching others on the rode not paying attention..

My new amp should be in soon..

Trikermutha, Me too. My cell phone is emergency only and stays in the tour pac or in the house when not traveling. Never had it in my car. I think I've only used it 4 or 5 times since I got it 10 years ago.
It looks like Evenston, Il. is going to be one of the first towns to completely ban cell phones in cars. Thank God. A couple years ago I never thought cell phones would be banned, but each new day brings hope that eventually they will be banned. Of course some people will still use them no matter what - hopefully they won't kill someone while doing so.

Let me know if you can tolerate the music at full volume. :AGGHH:

My threshold is about 3/4 volume at the most - usually I'm around 3/8 to 1/2.ThumbUp

I have been using HOGTUNES 2 channel amp since 2007 with the 902.2AA Front Speakers and a Tweeter Bar, always liked the way it sounded. Since converting to a trike I just changed out the Harley Radio with a SONY and added HOGTUNES rear speaker pods and 912 speakers to match the output of the radio. The amp drives the fronts and the radio drives the rears. With the Fader control you can place the sound around however you desire and also with the design of the HOGTUNES speaker which increases mid range sounds I'm impressed standing still or at speed.
Love this stuff, Ride Safe!!

damm .... glad i read this post. I have been using Hogtune stuff since he came
to the forums many years ago at HDforums.com. My ultra has his 8 speaker setup
and last year it started to cutout. I thought it was the radio and was going to pull
it and send it out to Ironcross. I guess Monday I will give Pez at Hogtunes a call :-(

here it is before I added the hogtunes tweeter bar also ...lol ...

Rob .....

that is with only SIX speakers and yes when I am playing it, it sounds like
a band comming down the road. My Wife always says I am going to get
a ticket .... LOL ....
Mine you that was awhile ago with his older speakers.
Pez has even NEWER ones that are better and even a more powerful amp.
I think I can just unplug and replug to have it play without amp.
Maybe I will try that first before calling Pez.

Yea I am waiting for the 40.4 amp to come in I think that will be more than enough..I dont need to play stairway to heaven and have them hear it in arizona...LOL

I did get pulled over one time when I had my goldwing stereo blaring..But that was inbetween buildings..

After that I turn it down..That was back in my yunger days...I was such a little devil back then...LOL

Yea play with unplugging the systems and you will know for sure which one is the problem..

That's a great demonstration video. Most people just walk around the bike while music is played. Yours really showed what you can expect.

When I'm in a parade I drown out the marching bands. :D
You can't even hear the guys with Rhineharts. :AGGHH:

The only drawback is not being able to remove the lowers in the summertime.

Got the HogTunes amp installed..If you ever install one make sure the wires under the fairing cover are in the right place or that cover will never go on correctly.

Now that its hookked up man what a difference over stock..The sound is much better. The bass really stands out now..
