Paul if you have not already spent the $$ for the Motor Trike trailer hitch then don't. It's basic design is good but they cheaped out on the materials. All they would have needed is another six inches of square tube and a short piece of flat stock to make the hitch usable. First time I used mine the trailer tongue weight bent the hitch carrier bracket.
I can't remember just now where I saw the thread about this but someone posted photos and measurements. Maybe they will see this and do so again. If not shoot me a PM and I'll measure mine.
Back to your original question. Installing one is easy once you get it made. If you have the tools and skills it's an easy day project. I've done a couple modifications to the original Motor Trike hitch to make it as I said earlier...

Yes, Gold Rush is right. I took mine off and made a heavier one.

Here is pictures of the one I made and one someone else made.

I think that second picture is the one I remembered from a few months ago.
You don't happen to have the link to that thread do you Randy? I know I had it because I provided it to my dealer/installer at the time so he could pass the info up to Motor Trike.
There was something in that post that I seem to recall interested me but don't remember the details now.. Age is catching up I guess!!!

No, they were emailed to me.

I have no welding skills or equipment. I apperciate your replys will have to see if I can figure out where they mount and get some measurements and see if I can get one built.

I really think you'd be happiest that way Paul. If you were only gonna put 20 pounds of tongue hitch weight on and never never step on the trailer tongue, the OEM hitch might work but we all know the odds of that are slim to not at all....
You will probably have to hunt up a stinger too. The closer to the vertical support you can keep the load the better but you still need to clear the bumper at least. That is one reason the OEM hitch is so weak. It's quite a ways from the bumper to the hitch load bearing point. I personally like my stinger that came with the Motor Trike hitch. Some do not. Guess you'll work that out...
Good Luck.

Paul, if you want the measurements of my new hitch, just let me know. I can't see $200.00 for that oem hitch.
