most you find at hd dealers still have solo front ends on them - its probably one of the main reasons for the end of mfg. hd always tried to claim that you could have a solo bike and put the sidecar on when you wanted it and take it off when you didnt - its mostly hogwash. it takes about 20 mins to take the hack off, but to get it on takes hours, you have to bleed the brakes both ways, you have to reset the rollover switch both ways. but the real deal to making a hd sidecar work really well is to change out the front end. add 5 degrees to the tree to move the front tire forward and it makes them drive perfect. i hope folks figure this out before all the mount kits are gone - the mount kit is over a grand - and its all parts that literally dissapear onto the bike - when sidecars are removed and sold usually only the three large cheap parts of the kit go with the sidecar. makes them useless... *sigh*
I have a 85 velorex 562 sidecar which I am currently trying to sell.
Would you call me with the info on your H.D. dealer.. is it a new side car or a used one Charlie D 847-274-7766 or send me a email harlycharlie@netzero.com or pm me..Tks. Charlie D.
i have been driving a 2000 custom hd rk with a new retro motorvation sidecar.interesting 2 master and a barrel of fun to manuever.hard turning at pushing speeds but very easy turning when under power at any speed.frankly i love it.seems a great option for biking .lots of room for golf junk etc
ps no raked front end.seems unneeded
tim a very interesting and educational piece of information
i have put a 1000 miles on my first hack this last 60 days .i am a little surprised I dont see more hacks on the road.they are fun to ride ,relatively easy to add on,and functional.why so few?
I have a friend that is getting ready to put a Hannigan unit on a '05 Dayna. The Dealer in Belton will do the install.
