Thread: Tri Glide Rear Brakes

    Default Tri Glide Rear Brakes

    I know this topic has come up several times so today I decided to check the rear pads.

    I was shocked what I found. The left rear pads were like flaking off in chunks and looks like it was causing the rotor to groove.

    The right side was not as bad but I still was not impressed.

    The bike is a 2010 with only 4300 miles on it.

    So since I refuse to deal with the Stealer I am going with the Lyndall brake pads and new rotors.

    I got the rotors off ebay brand new cheap. They appear to be the newest version rotor.

    Also while I had the brakes apart I found the bushings were sticking and lubed them up now they move in and out of the caliper easy.

    I also plan to see how to adjust that dam parking brake and make sure it works all the time or that will be removed too..

    I ran out of time so try to finish them another day.

    My rear pads on my 11 were shot at 14000 miles. I put the Lyndalls on and have 6000 miles on them. No more squeaking. Good brakes.

    if problem presist try performance machine stage 1 brake kit. at times you can get it cheaper on-line. just caa p/m & check if the ones you want to buy will fir your trike.

    I'm curious. How far away is your master cylinder from your head pipe??

    I just put Lyndall on the rear of mine, ( only have a couple of hundred miles on them ) but they do work better -- while i was at it I also removed the parking brake. I don't know if it was the installation of the Lyndalls or the removal of the brake but the ratteling and squealing has stopped.

    the aft edge of the p/m master cylinder is about 5/16 from the pipe.on '09 t/g

    What headers are you using? I measurement came out to about 3/16" from the back of the PM master cylinder and the stock '09 TG headers. Here are a couple pictrues of my setup. I did have my brake pedal get soft after an hour of running around so I bled the brakes and found no air so I'm blaming it on the PM master cylinder being to close to the header.

    To me they work better. Maybe it's all in my mind but it seems that way. But the noise is 100% gone.

    I hope to test out my new brake parts soon as the weather is a bit chilly for a ride..

    I even put on my new rear chrome wheels and willy shiny baby moons..

    My dad even took in the my old brake parts to the stealer and they took pictures of the brake pads and rotors.\
    My dad even took his trike back in to have the pads/rotors looked at trying to get the MOCO to cough up and pickup the tab for the parts and labor.
