Check the antenna (some newer styles have a thin wire inside. Any crack or cut can break wire). Also check continuity of cable going to antenna. Note that it is also possible that it became unscrewed or deattached on one end.
Thanks Bikerbozo. I'll check those
I drive mainly in South Central Wisconsin and the stereo feature of the radio for me seems to fade in and out and the signal and volume/static goes with that fade. I was at the dealer last week getting a new front tire and asked him about that and he said that static isnt normal. He said to check all the leeds in the antenna for corrosion and that there fully seated. I did just that a few days back. Seems the signal is better but still not great.
So I started looking at antenna boosters on Ebay where you power up the signal through a switched hot somewhere on the bike. So while driving yesterday and thinking more about it at a stop I decided to swap out the CB antenna for the FM radio antenna. I wasn't sure what would happen but low and behold I get great rock solid stereo signals on most if not all of my channels. Only thing I can figure is there have some type of amplifier on the CB antenna to boost its strength.
I don't use the CB for anything so its no big lose to me. Eventually I may buy another CB antenna for the other side and run dual CB antennas but if anyone else was in the boat I was and also this thread starter you may want to give this a try and see what happens. Its working great for me
