Converting my Heritage - Please advise

Hi ya'll,
I am looking into triking my 2009 HD Heritage. I live in the Baltimore, MD area. Since I am new in around here, I do not know any mechanics or any bike shops in the area. I have an idea of what I would like, and researching. How do I go about selecting the "brand and type" of kit? How do I know where to go for the work? Any guidance is really appreciated.

Hi Yan. Welcome to TrikeTalk!
I had a Champion kit on my Fat Boy and LOVED it! Now I have a Hannigan kit on my V-rod.... and I LOVE it too! LOL! To be honest, all the major manufacturers make wonderful kits. Probably the most important thing is to have a really good, experienced installer; with that, you would likely be very happy with any of the kits.

welcome aboard Yan. Like Nana says the first step is to find a good installer. They will make suggestions as to the kit they like best. If that fits with your likes then you are in power. Living in the Baltimore area there should be shopd around. Go to the different comapanies web sites and look for dealers in your area. All the major companies advertise on this forum. Click and go to their web page.

I installed Roadsmith Kit on my 06 Heritage 6 Months ago did the complete install myself
without any problem enjoyed the project very much,,Good Luck

The dealers I've seen have handled several companies' kits.

When I picked my dealer (he had a lot of experience with trikes), I had the choice of five companies that he dealt with on a regular basis.

He was able to give me mechanical guidance and then I picked Hannigan from his comments and my own eye for what it looked like.

On HDforums.com under the converstion section there is a member who is currently triking his Heritage with a Frankestein kit. There are other trike kit manufactures who are sponsors here that if you click on the links to see what they offer.

As far as a shop in Baltimore HD on Pulaski Hwy has a good reputation. South of Baltimore is Zippers Cycles & Eastside Chop Shop both in Elkridge Md

A little farther south in Laurel Md is Old Glory HD

To the west of Baltimore is F&S Cycles in Elderburg Md

Consider American Trike if you want a kit with a body-they have an IRS kit that is a pretty easy DIY, and is what I consider to be the best price around. Champion is another great DIY option.
If you check out American Trike, they actually have instructions for installing the kit that fits your bike on their main page-they also offer a variety of body styles for the kit. If you have questions about this company-shoot me a PM and I can share info with you about them, if you need a reference.

We did my Lowrider ourselves with a Frankenstein kit, and it was great. The kit itself is excellent and the company was available and ready to answer questions over the phone. There are pics on my profile.
