Windshield vent question

While riding home from work on the trike today I had a thought. (Hey! No comments from the peanut gallery!) This is the first ride I've had that has a vent in the 'shield. We got this trike in October, and I have yet to ride in rain. So I was wondering, does the vent let water in behind it? It is a stock Honda vent on a National Cycle V-Stream windshield.

In a hard rain and at highway speeds, rain will come through the closed vent.
It's just a drip here and there, nothing major.

Rain water comes through my stock Honda windshield vent, but it is not a major problem. You can always cut a cheep sponge to fit in the vent hole and put it in when it rains. Make sure it fits tight so it wont fall out.

I have a F-4 with a vent. Recently, in a full pelt (not too frequent in SoCal), with the vent closed, little drips here & there. But the visibility thru this windshield was nothing short of amazing!!

I agree on that. So clear I sometime touch it to see if it is still there.
BTW NOW 4 years old.

Hey, a couple drops leaking thru is nothing compared to the rest of the rain coming down. I had an F4 on my last Wing. I agree with you about how good the F4 is, but figure I can replace my regular windshield twice for the cost of an F4. You pays your money and takes your choice.
Back to the topic, the vent isn't sealed with rubber gaskets, but a few drops seeping thru is no problem. I once had a windshield that was too high to see over even standing up and in a driving rainstorm in Sebring Florida had to open the vent and look thru it to see the tail light of the bike in front of me. I'll never get a windshield I can't look over again.
