It's almost that time!! 30,000 of your best friends on Harleys meet in Laughlin Nevada for 4 days of...uh.... well.... discussions, that's it, discussions on world peace.

We are leaving at zero dark thirth Wednesday the 25th. It is a 300 mile run give or take across the Mojave Desert. Temps should be in the high 80's to mid 90's. #1 son is riding with us, his wife and baby are following in the chase car. She is preggy with #2 grandchild so her partying will be at a minimum. Good luck to y'all. I hope you have a great tripp with many great discussions on world peace. I have only been to Laughlin once and it was a great trip. I love the desert rides. Look forward to reading some great stories and seeing some great pics when y'all get back.

I am so jealous, having been 6-7 times. Come to think of it I may have been a few times more-to much talking about world peace I guess. It is about 650 miles from Salt Lake-we usually ride straight thru and camp in Vegas or Kingman. It can be a very expensive undertaking. GOOD LUCK with all the crazy bastids!!!!!!

Just checked the Weather Underground trip planner, they say possible rain for about half the ride there Wednesday. Sooooo gonna leave Tuesday afternoon. This retired life of no watches or calenders is great. Even #1 son is taking the afternoon off to ride with us.

WE ARE HERE!! 306 miles in about 8 hours... we weren't in a hurry. Really ugly sky's across the desert, I think they may be right about the rain Wednesday and Thursday. We can see the tents and booths taking shape across the river in Laughlin, lots of transporters with tons of goodies for the shows. Crowds should start coming in tomorrow and Thursday

Plan for the day...
Taking old Rt. 66 through the desert to Kingman, Az. Breakfast at Cracker Barrel then to the festivities at Mother Road Harley Davidson. Gotta love that name, Mother Road! Back in time for Part II of the NFL Draft, then burgers on the terrace at home. Maybe walk around Vendor Village at the hotels, listen to some music, check out the wierdos

Vesta at 70.... MPH that is. Riding from Laughlin, NV. across the Golden Valley in Arizona to Kingman and Mother Road Harley. Would you believe Beer Pong competitions. Nothing like drinking games at a biker rally. We will be heading back to Laughlin and the main rally tomorrow, should be really wild as the week-end warriors roll in. I would estimate the number of bikes / bikers at this time to be between 2 and 3 gazillion. There is a steady roar of Harleys going by our community and we are 6 miles from the bridge across the river to Laughlin, Nevada. Oh, it was 88* today, going up tomorrow to 100*

The 30th Laughlin River Run is winding down. Going across the River for some last minute bargins and watch the booths come down. I'm curious what the attendance was, seemed down a bit Still had a great time. 300 mile ride home tomorrow should be in the mid to high 80's

Screwball, you have got to change your nickname. I road up from Phoenix on my trike and went up to several burly but distinguished looking gents and yelled "HEY SCREWBALL!" After having no luck and receiving only minor bodily harm, I thought I would try it one more time. Thought I saw you near one of the bars in front of the Colorado Belle and yelled "HEY SCREWBALL." The person was burly, big and hairy, but SHE didn't like being called Screwball and after getting b*tch slapped I figured I better give up. Maybe next year.

WHAT AN OUTSTANDING RIDE HOME!!! Just over 300 miles. It took us about 8 hours which included ice cream breaks for granddaughter Charlotte in the chase car, lunch, and aching ass breaks for all of us. T-Shirt weather the whole run, except for the final 15 miles through the canyons near home, then a wind breaker. We figure between 25 and 30 thousand bikes at the rally. 6 hotels has their parking lots full of vendors, bands, and beer gardens. Lots of outstanding custom bikes, some real rat pieces of crap, and a few trailer queens.

Sunday morning the place really cleared out. By 2pm all the vendors had packed up and left, the hotels had pulled all the tents, and it would be hard to imagine an event had even taken place. We have our obligatory T-shirts, a couple of pins and a patches for Charlotte's and her pretty soon to be born brother's Biker Vests. Both were at the rally, so they get patches.

We have 3 cameras to download and a zillion stills and movies to edit. I'll be boring everyone with a slide show shortly.

Yep, nothing but a sea of bikes. The best thing there was the guy with the old John Deere Hit and Miss engine churning home made ice cream on the spot.

How cool is that!!! I love those old Johnny Poppers.. There is a giant organization of guys here that restore and maintain running old machinery like that. They display 'em at the fair and it draws huge crowds. One of my favorites.

Well gang, here is about 800 miles to and from and a little sight seeing in the middle. 2 days riding, 5 days wondering around Arizona and Nevada for the rally. All squashed into about 4 minutes... give or take. Pictures of Oatman Ghost town, my Daughter in Law (7 months preggy) and Charlotte, Son Steve, Vesta and some of the infamous Oatmen Mules. A little "Mother Road Harley" and one hell of a lot of desert riding.
