Amplifier kit for Stallion Sony radio

Has anyone added an amplifier to their Stallion's OEM Sony radio? Was there a major difference? What brand was used? Did the OEM speakers handle the additional power ok?

Thanks in advance.

I noticed the radio's sound wasn't up to par very quickly. I first added upgraded Alpine speakers for the oem's. There doen't seem to be any really good marine speakers for the sound quality I was looking for. My hifi dealer clued me in in on waterproffing the speakers. I then added Pioneer 4 way 6x9's in the front which was good but still looking for more clear sound at the higher volume you need at 70 mph. I added a Rockford Fosgate Punch amp. they are rather small these days with big power. about 8x7x2. If you look at my mods pic of the battery jumper you can see the cable only but it is mounted in the fender well under the radio. I also ran a cable from the front of the radio that comes out in the bottom of the cup holder to plug up mp3 device.

The answer is yes the Stallion Audio is way less than par. We kept the radio, but added new speakers (4) and a amp. Had the work done at a car audio shop. Also added a MP3 jack up front to plug in an Ipod.

Back on 1/30/08, I posted about speaker upgrade, and the addition of a Kicker amp. Every thing worked great. Check out the post, pictures are posted.
