Just in case anyone is interested, here is the Tri-Glide Rear axle assembly.

Thanks. Is the rear axle assembly the same as the Lehman assembly? Is the wheelbase the same? Thanks.

Ben, I don't know, but I'll find out. Maybe Zook can jump in here.

OK, just looking at spec sheets here... The Lehman (Harley touring) has a w/b of 63.5, and an OAL of 103, with OAW at 53, so there are some differences there. The rear is a different design.

Well, as my grandsons would say, "Sweet". The Tri Glide is now resting on the showroom floor with a little sign that says Sold! Not everything is perfect though. It is noticeably a rougher ride as setup now. However I didn't take the time to check air pressure in the shocks so that might have some bearing on the ride. Personally, I don't like the air shocks, I'd prefer standard coil over shocks with adjustable preload. We'll see how that works out. Anyone who is used to riding a CSC/Ultra will immediately notice how much quieter the T Glide is, yea I know, Harleys are supposed to be loud. The loud exhaust is the only real complaint I have about the CSC. The handling is suprisingly sporty. For whatever reason this bike really feels light on its feet, I suspect the shorter wheelbase and narrower track width is the reason. The factory 103 inch engine, combined with the 70 tooth sprocket, make this a pretty snappy ride! Easy to leave a stop sign, much less clutch slip required. I still have some misgivings about the use of 6th gear at anything under 70 mph.
I'm going to change out the motor sprocket on my CSC to lower the overall gearing, this should make the CSC much easier on the clutch and give it better response and the ability to use 6th gear without exceeding the speed limit too much!! Yea, I know, why would I do that if I'm going to sell it? Well, I've allready got the parts, and it will make the new owner a better ride. Gotta go to work now, if I think of anything else I'll post it later.

Ironhorsepilot- Didnt mean to insinuate they are a bad machine, Im just speaking of my buying preferences. I hesitate buying the first run of any new vehicle particularly if I know in advance they have known issues. Your trike is a beauty!

The Roadsmiths you speak of are done by Dick the owner of The Trike Shop (Daytona & National). He leases a building from Bruce Rossmeyer in the Destination Daytona complex and they have a deal for Dick to convert Harleys for him. They also have a shop downtown next to Motor Trikes shop. They are pricey but they still sell quiet a few and Rossmeyer/HD stands behind the warranty.

Dwight, I sure wished you lived down here. I need to change mine out as well. I install most of my options but internal mods are a different story.

Did you order the parts separately or is a kit of some kind?

I am such a good customer of Zook, you would think he would do this for me:yes:

Congrats on your new trike Dwight....Thats the the good thing about this forum. We aren't afraid to pool our ideas and knowledge and resolve any issue many times before the factory does. Ive seen it many times here on the Stallions and Hondas/Harleys. Wonder if the "Big Guys" read us regularly? I hear they do!

bdn56- Im sure we can work something out!

Dwight, Cool! Glad you liked it! The shock air pressure (in the book) says 5 to 50 psi. load and personal preference based. The filler is under the right side cover. I know what you mean about air shocks. My M/T conversion on an 07 FLHX has an air shock and an adjustable coil-over on each side. I still haven't got all those (plus tire presure) optimized yet.
On your '07, what trans pulley are you going to? I see Andrews only has 30 or 34 for the 6-speed trans. Obviously you aren't going bigger, so I'm assuming the 30 toother.

Let me know how that works out, as I'm about ready to do the same to my FLHX.
I hate lugging the motor as well, and agree with at least 65 to 70 MPH before going to 6th, as do most everyone I have spoken with.
BTW, the TG Service manual (supplement) is 99601-09 (I can get one for you for $26. (list $40) The TG Parts catalog is 99602-09A, which I can get for $37.70. (list $48) You'll also need the basic 09 touring model service manual (99483-09) which I can get for 45.50. (list $60) Free shipping. Note that I'm not making any money on these, and only asking for a donation to Trike Talk!
If you want them, let me know.
Oh, what color did ya end up with? And, you know we'll need to see pictures!

    bdn56 and Ultra,

I'm going to change the compensating sprocket (otherwise known as the engine sprocket) on my 07 Ultra. CSC trikes use two belt drives, first belt goes from countershaft (tranny) sprocket to jack shaft, second belt goes from jack shaft to differential. Can't change either of those so the only way to change gear ratio is by changing the motor sprocket. The stock motor sprocket on an 07 is 34 teeth. Evolution Industries (909 594 7969, ask for Gary or Al) sells a sprocket/chain kit that is a 30 tooth. I’m not sure what they charge for it, I had my local shop order it because I get an employee discount. I saw a price sticker on it for $400 but I paid a lot less than that. Somewhere I have a gear chart that will give you the speeds when you change the gear. If I remember correctly the 30 tooth motor sprocket will give you about 73mph at 3000rpm in 6th. On my CSC, with the 103 motor, this puts me in a really good range for making power.

The T Glide in 6th at 70mph is about 2600 + or -. With only 8 miles on it, it would run 70 in 6th easily but was pretty slow to accelerate. More miles should help but adding a passenger and luggage might still make a down shift necessary to pass. Be careful about changing the tranny pulley, with all of this new electronics now supplied it can cause problems. I’ve heard various stories about losing the 6th gear indicator or more importantly cruise control. It’s also possible that you would have to recalibrate your speedo.

Ultra, tell me what I need to do to get all of those manuals and I’ll be happy to send you and Trike Talk a check. Oh, the T Glide is Sunglow Red. If it wasn’t red I don’t think I’d be buying it. The SO has never been too happy with our Cobalt Blue/Pewter (Silver) CSC.
Dwight, The 07 Touring bikes have a 1.35 primary ratio (46/34) So by going to a 30 tooth motor sprocket you'll be getting a 1.53 ratio. The TG BTW, is also a 46/34 primary. Anyway, leaving the rest as is, you should have about a 3.20 overall ratio. Should be getting off the line much better. With the M/T, I don't have the jackshaft business. Anyway, sounds good. I'm going to do the tranny sprocket down to 30, much cheaper, and I have the parts already, and a speedo re-cal box. The 6th indicator will still work.

OK, the books. PM me your shipping address, and I'll get them on the way. On the 'Forum' page, click on 'Donate' (below the pictures, on the right side and send Trike Talk 109.20 via the PayPal link for the actual cost of the 3 books.

Shipping will be UPS at no charge.
