Yeah, found a crack in one of mine. Ordered new ones on ebay, with the old style 1157 bulb. Some of the LEDs on mine were awfully dim.
That the lens in the tear drop taillights on the motortrike are glass. I found out the hard way. Dropped one on the garage floor.Didn't bounce! New taillight on order.

Yes, they are glass and of a high quality as well, (imho). Mine were the newer LED models and I found them to be quite bright.
I had the glass type lens on my Goldwing also and had to find it out the hard way (droped on concrete floor). I was ordering a new lens when the vendor told me they had LED replacements so I went with the LEDs and they were quite abit brighter.
I don't know if mine were factory, or rigged up by the PO. Just a small LED board, riveted on one end, vibration (my hypothesis) caused about half of the small LEDs to not work.
while you guys are discussing the lens type could someone please tell me were to buy teardrop lights from as i cannot find a supplier here in australia. which one,s are the best and should and how to convert to led.
Aussietriker, I have only bought this style light from ebay suppliers. It's a '39 Ford tail light assembly, here's one that ships world wide:
Teardrop Tail Light Lamp Set 1938 1939 Ford | eBay
These lights are already converted to larger LEDs, seller says he will ship international
1938 1939 Ford Car LED Taillight Kit with Rapid Fire | eBay
Perhaps some help to you.
