anyone compared Voyager to true trike?

I was wondering if anyone on the forum has ridden both a bike with the Voyager kit installed and a true trike? After over 50 years of riding two wheels, I bought a '07 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 with the Voyager kit installed. After riding it a couple thousand miles, I'm not impressed with the ride on bumpy roads, and the hard steering in tight twisties. Rides like a lumber wagon on the bumpy roads, and wears my arms out when riding miles of twisties. I haven't yet had the opportunity to ride a true trike, and curious as to the ride and handling differences. If there is a great improvement in the ride and handling when riding a true trike, then I may consider selling the voyager kit, and have my Vulcan changed to only three wheels.

Well I picked up my homebuilt trike last weekend and drove it 525 plus miles.
Compare to the 05Honda VTX 1300R with voyager kit I like the trike better,
Handles better....

I have at one time or another had the voyager and a trike kit on my 2006 Harley FLHTCUI. I have a DFT kit on her now and there is day and night difference in ride and handle over the voyager. Don't get me wrong, when money was tighter the Voyager got the job done.

It not that a true trike ride better than a voyager but does it ride
10k dollars better.

Less noise
Less heavy feel
No wheel off the ground turns
No shaky turns
No backwards leaning
Wife hated ride with Voyager, loves trike
Voyager keeps you from falling down for $5,000 less.
Have you seen the $ of a new Voyager not including install
Wear on the rear tire is terribly short
And you can add a raked triple tree to a trike but not a Voyager.
I also have a DFT NOW!

Just sold the Ultra with the Voyager kit on it. I HATED IT! Folks that bought it from me love it. I know another guy who has one and he hates it too. Find someone who owns a Voyager and ride it before you decide to go down that road.

Interesting timing on this thread. Was at a local coffee shop this afternoon and got talkin to a Harley guy that also owns a Valkyrie and was thinking of installing a voyager kit on it so his wife could ride it. Although he liked my trike he said he felt the cost was not prohibitive. left me wondering what the wife would like???

I have a "Voyager" type kit on my '86 GL1200 GoldWing. On the straight-away and slight curves, it doesn't ride too badly. On tighter curves it's a bear to handle. Kinda like driving a car with NO power steering. Lack of any kind of suspension is a killer on my back when going over those "washboard" roads we seem to have all over Illinois!!! I have never driven a "true" trike so I have nothing to compare to. All I can say is, this trike got me into biking/triking as cheaply as I could afford. And I love it!! Not opposed to moving to a newer "true" trike though. IF it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

I had a Voyager Kit because it was all I could afford at the time, I loved it and rode it for several years until I could afford a small Suzuki Trike which I loved and rode until I could afford the Tri-Glide, happy with the performance on all of them. But he actual trikes steer easier and give a smoother ride, but for the money, the Voyager did the job at the time so I would never put it down........

I love riding my RG with Ghost Wheels! They ride like a 2 wheeler, holds her up while stopped, 65 pounds, and same price range as voyager. I put 26k on mine so far, and would purchase again.

I had a voyager kit on my 05 Honda VTX 1300R... Sold it for very cheap then got the trike that is pictured. It has a VW engine. It does have minor issues but working on them..

I paid less for the trike then a brand new voyager kit. Should have done this a long time ago.

My goal is to own this trike for 3 years and get a new one.

I have owned both and as some others have already said, the voyager was fine for the price. I presently am riding a GW trike with Motor trike kit. The voyager was a nice stepping stone until i could afford a real trike. Trike is much easier to steer and rides better. Wife hated voyager but loves the trike.

i am not impressed with the voyager kit. i have a honda with one. then i built a trike based on a front wheel car drive train and a motorcycle front end. the honda has sat ever since i finished the last one. now i am building a reverse trike i have heard so many good things about reverse trikes i thought i would try it.
