That sums it up pretty good. I'm not into casinos morethen willing to get people there and give directions back to hotel to those that want to go there, but was just putting the opition out there. I figure Newport, couple hours strolling around, then taking back roads back to Mystic area, now both Newport and Mystic are small and parking is scarce or impossible to find. Thats why no trailers. There mainly shops at both, marinias to look at, tour boats and such. 8 o'clock start is to try to beat the heat of the day, I plan to be back at hotel by 4.
Dinner Saturday night? Time? Local? Dress code? Any suggestions from the "locals" about a good place to eat that will be able to take in a "large" group?
Sunday, breakfast? Time? Place? Suggestions?
Never to early to plan!
See you soon!

Jonesy said no trailers on the "run" Saturday, correct? I'll bring a bike coated wire rope with a lock to "tie" a few trailers together at the parking lot so they will be there when we return. Does this seem like a good idea? What did they do at Maggie Valley when they left the trailers behind? Any other suggestions? Food for thought!

Rosy,
I'm looking into all that now - the main problem for Friday night is not knowing when everyone will be here. I plan to call Applebee's to see how large a group they can accomodate - thinking 6:30-7:00pm? It's not too expensive, and it's a short ride from the motel - I figure most will be tired from riding all day, and won't want to go too far.
Saturday night dinner - I have an Italian place in mind. Again, I was thinking 6:30ish (give us a bit of time to relax and/or schmooze after our ride), but I have to give them a call to see if they require reservations for a group our size. Very few places in our area have a "dress code", other than shoes, pants, shirts, so I don't expect that to be an issue anywhere.
Sunday breakfast - I was thinking head out 9ish. I have one place that I'd love to recommend, but they couldn't accomodate even half of us, so I'm thinking of Mug 'N Muggin - Jonesy?? Help me out here - think they could handle us on a Sunday morning? Leaving 9ish would let us have a nice, if brief, ride there, but I'd like your input on that one.
Sorry everyone - I would have made these calls before if I'd realized how many would actually be coming! Will definitely be more prepared next time!!

Any trailers should be okay at the motel, since I believe they're staffed 24 hours (Sturbridge isn't exactly "high crime" either), but locking them doesn't sound like a bad idea "just in case", especially if they're in the back of the motel. I don't know if anyone locked theirs in Maggie Valley or not, but with so many people mingling around I don't think it would have been necessary there anyway.

Joanne: Glad to see you & hubby can make the trip.......hope he's feeling better. Tis
I like most of the trikers have some money tied up in their trailers, along with the "stuff" inside, so I would feel a little safer if they were "locked". I have this lock in the trailer anyway, so I will have it in case someone else wants to tie-it-up to mine when we leave for the "run" Saturday morning.
Sounds like a good plan for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast will be towards 84/90 or the other way, since you said it is a little ways away.
Got caught in a t-storm tonight while we were getting an ice cream. We were running through some heavy belly-washes and the rear tires were spraying water up and over our aqua guards on our Hannigan trike. We were totally soaked. Our sheep skins, gel packs, and clothes are out on the line drying out. I think the rain drops were as big as grapes and coming down in buckets. WOW! By the time were traveled 5 blocks and parked the trike in the cellar (under the house garage for the trike), we were soaked.
Hope everybody else had a great day as we did. That t-storm was a lot of fun and Janice and I stood there, soaked and laughing!
See you soon!

I locked my trailer in Maggie Valley, just for peace of mind. All of the trailers I saw were either locked together or to something solid.
Glad you made it home safely.

I lock my hitch closed. I empty my trailer into the room. I will check on a cable at Lowe's .. How many are bringing trailers? I am
1) John Trike and trailer
I haven't locked mine for quite a while now, spent 3 weeks on road this year now. Found hitch lock other day in garage may use it.
No trailers on rides will give us better chances of parking in a group, also less chance of collisions while riding as a group, americade has this policy as a group ride and ralleys I've gone to do it too.
I also have a hitch lock, but they can roll the trailer away and cut the hitch lock later. But if you have it lock to a post or something solid they have to cut it there, hopefully in front of security cameras, motel staff, or guest. Maybe less chance of them doing that.
I don't bring everything into the room from the trailer. I leave things like rain gear, trike cover, trailer cover, extra helmets, chairs, and other things not needed in the trailer.
A few of the motels I have stayed at have had supports for the second floor balcony in front of the ground floor rooms so that's where I lock the trailer too, if I leave it behind. That works very well!
Anyway, think positive and all will be good!
See Y'all soon, as they say further South!

If he has not printed them I may still be possible. $11.00 each s,M,L or XL any thing larger is $13.00,,,, let me know
Rooms still available at Super 8 at least for Sat night. Motel 6 is down the street ,Hampton is across the street.
Suga, as mentioned in other posts, the Super 8 is the "host" hotel. Make sure you mention you're with the Trike Talk group, so hopefully they'll give you a room near everyone else! Other motels/hotels in the area near the Super 8....Comfort Inn & Suites, Motel 6, Quality Inn, Hampton Inn. There are more (we are a tourist town! LOL), but those are the closest.
Also, could you please PM or email me your info? cheri@newenglandtrikers.org. Screen name, plus real name, so that I can add you to my list for a name badge? As well as anyone else coming with you....
Can't wait to meet you!! Ride safe!

Made my reservation but not by calling the Super 8. Spoke with the Manager Anthony and he no longer would honor the group rate. Not sure what the group rate was but I did book online at the Super 8 website for $187 including tax for 2 nights. Also asked under the comments section to have a room near everyone else. FYI I also used Ebates for a little "extra" cash back.
