Do any of you Gl1800 owners use Bakerbuilt trike wings. What do you think of them? Do they really help keep stuff from hitting the rear fenders? Do they have other advantages or problems?
Thanks in advance-Deadeye

Deadeye I know a lot of members use Baker wings.Never heard of trike wings. Is that something new? RIDE SAFE
i use them. they help but fenders still get stuff on them.
yes they are called barker wings
Lucky,
I don't know how new they are- you can see a photo of them mounted on trikes on the Bakerbuilt web site. I'm real interested in how they work.

I just put a set of Baker Built Trike Wings on my GL1800 trike 2 weeks ago and at about 65 mph and up I got some bouncing and shacking of the stock windshield and faring. I have all the Baker airwings and they were all closed. When I opened up the top of the center set (not the ones under the mirrors) the vibration quit. The vibration is definitely the additional wind now hitting the faring and center set of airwings. I may have to take off the trike wings if the problem continues. My trike before adding the trike wings didn't have any vibration and I don't like the windshield shaking. The windshield shaking is not excessive, just irritating to me and I still get bugs on the rear fenders.

I have had mine for a month now and love them. They do several things with the most important being pulling the engine heat away from the bike and cleaning up the air flow on the lower half of the trike. It actually made things quieter by diminishing the turbulence. Still get a few bugs on the rear fenders but no rocks. I had a dozen or so "chips" before installing and after a month I have none.
Note: follow the instructions when installing. They are not designed to be tight on the engine guards.
I have all of them, mirrors, fairing and the large trike wings.
Wouldn't be with out them
They help....But, the onl;y way to keep the fenders clean is to keep 'er in the garage!
A full set of the Baker wings were on the new trike when we got it in October. They work as advertised, and with the trike wings my feet stay warmer in the cold due to less wind and drier when riding in the rain. Keeps my boots cleaner, too. Took then off and went for a run, then put them back on and went out again. Gloria reports that there is less turbulance and wind coming up at her from the wind hitting the fenders.
Here is a picture of ours as it came when we bought it. The purple matches the paint pretty well, but being almost clear they are a bit hard to see.

I have the full set also. The ones my wife likes best are the mirror mounts. The trike wings work very well. Very little trouble with bugs on the fenders after installing them. I also do not want to be without them.
I have the mirror mounts and the center Baker wings on my trike.
I had a set of the bike foot wings left over when I sold the bike. Put them on the trike last weekend. Like em a whole lot better on the trike. Almost feels like fuel mileage went up slightly.
I would recommend any and all of the Baker wings.

2005 goldwing 2012 MT Adventure came with trike wings. Great in cool or cold weather, helps keep feet and legs warm and dry. Helps to keep bra clean to. Weather got real warm over 3 day weekend, had to take them off, way to warm. Will reinstall this fall.
Yes, they help very much. The fenders are lot's cleaner after riding now, than before I installed them.
I've had the trike wings since they first came out. As others have said - great in cool and wet weather.
I also take them off in the summer.
I stick them in the top shelf of the dishwasher to clean off the bugs and debris.

I have the Trike Wings. Put them on this year, I wish I put them on when I bought the trike. After a full days ride my rear fenders are not as filthy with bugs and dirt. They are great. The only down fall I have noticed is you feet will get a little warmer. I have aqua boarrds, but with the vents open on them the heat is not noticeable. If you don't have aqua boards you probably won't notice the heat at all.
Also when you get caught in the rain your feet will stay dryer. As for the stone chips they are showing up on the Trike wings, and saving the rear fenders.
