Running boards vs engine cooling

Does anyone know if running boards will cause the engine to run hotter then without them.

I have heard they might, so just checking to see if someone has the answer.

Also, what engine, exhaust, and computer upgrade (if any) are you running. If I had to guess, I'd say you probably have a 110 engine with a rear cylinder heat problem. This can be an issue with those engines..

My trike is a 2005 Harley Ultra with 95" big bore kit, and a power commander.

I have never had the lowers installed. I also don't have a running hot condition, but do not want one. If the lowers are installed I don't know if that would cut down the air flow or not. As it's either warm or hot here, I don't know if installing them is a good idea.
