Ok,
how many times have you been on the road and needed a place to grub, but had no Idea what was good in town.
If you like me you want to avoid the chains, and eat where the locals do....

Owensboro, KY (not where I live, but Mike used to live there)--you've GOT to try the BBQ mutton, pork, or chicken from Moonlight BBQ! The mutton is an unusual treat and is fantastic. This one is near my home, but there are a couple of other locations listed on the weblink in Dayton or Columbus. They are a chain, but a small one, and the BBQ is excellent!

Just south of Joplin, Mo - This is a place built into a cliff at a 90° corner in the road near Tipton Ford, close to the George Washington Carver National Monument.

American style food, Burgers, Sandwhiches, etc. They have the best coleslaw I have ever had that my Mom didn't make.

Very motorcycle friendly - always bikes of all makes and styles parked out front in the riding season. There is also a campground accross the road to the south.

Located about 19 miles from me down the road a ways. Easy to get to off of Conn. RT 84 and up Rt7 N is The Cook House ..Seats about 300 people. Large potions and good food. Mainly BBQ.

If you are near Pensacola, Florida, and you want fresh seafood, you could do worse than any of these three: Fish House and Atlas Oyster House, both near downtown Pensacola on Seville Harbor. Great fresh shellfish and other fish, plus some yummy local dishes like Grits-a-ya-ya, a cheese grits and shrimp combination of which even I, the confirmed grits hater, have enjoyed a few bites. On Pensacola Beach, be sure to hit Pegleg Pete's for fresh local shrimp, oysters, and other seafood. At Navarre Beach, it's Cocodrie's, where they also put on an all-you-can-eat for bikers on Sunday afternoons.

And if you're in Destin, Florida, and looking for breakfast, check out Another Broken Egg. OK it's kind of a chain but a small one--a few spots in Florida, a few in Louisiana, and one in Alabama. Their scramblers, omelettes, and list of variations on eggs benedict are to die for. I especially recommend the veggie benedict! It's about an hour ride for us to get there, and last spring we went over there so many weekends that the hostess asked us if we lived there!

For a killer burger or good old fashioned lunch, try Bradford Cafe in Bradford, TX. No website, just located on SH 19 between Athens and Palestine, TX. Open every day at 6 a.m., close at 2 except on Fridays when they close at 6 p.m. Closed Sunday.

Ok, those of you that know me know I don't really care that much for food..
If you're on I-65 in Alabama, try the Kountry Kitchen at exit 208. That's where all the "locals" around here eat, and one of Diane and myselfs' favorites. They make a Jumbo hamburger as big as the "old" Whopper was, and homemade double battered onion rings...A big 'ol glass of tea and you're set...:yes: They're on the East side of I-65 about 1/4 mi. past the Loves Truck Stop.

Where ever you go,one good way to check out eateries in the area is to go to www.urbanspoon.com .If you are in the John stown,Oh. area be sure to check out www.62bbq.com,located on the west side of town on rt. 62. If you like portugese,try the Spain on rt.161 in Worthington,Oh. on the north side of Columbus,Oh. And if you are riding thru Frazeysburg,Oh. on your way to the Longaberger basket co.,stop at Becky's for a good burger and a piece of home made pie. I know you are going to think I am nuts but being an over the road truck driver I run into some unusual places. I go into New Jersey quite a bit and I love to eat from a roach coach(lunch wagon).Some of them have different ethnic foods I don't normally find. Olleys Trolley in Cincinatti,Oh has some great food,but no seating.It is in a very bad part of town,next to the Sam Adams brewery. An old favorite in Zanesville,Oh. is Tom's Ice Cream Bowl. I have been going there since I was a kid.I'm 63 now.

I agree with Shinyb and ozarkryder...The Undercliff Bar & Grill. Super great place to eat!
