Why do we write for TrikeTalk.com?
I started posting on Triketalk.com (TT) while I was looking to buy my first trike. I was interested in a trike that was built from the ground up by one manufacturer. I was looking for specific things in a trike, and I zeroed in on the Stallion. I like to do extensive research before I purchase things. When researching on the internet you know you have finished when the same pages and information start coming up, again and again. Unfortunately, while researching the Stallion, my internet search ended just few minutes after it started. I was about to make a large purchase, and for the first time I was not able to satisfy my need for information on the internet!
I was uncovering new information everyday in my attempt to answer questions about the Stallion. I called the manufacturer more times than they cared to answer the phone. I called dealers across the country, multiple times. I had narrowed my search down to just the Stallion, and I wanted to help others with the information I had. There were less than three Stallion threads on TT at that time. Information was so limited, I wanted to share what I uncovered in my research with others, so I tried to post as much as I could on what had worked for me. I was searching for information on accessories and tried to post information to help others not repeat my mistakes, or to allow them to build on or refine my successes. I felt it is not fair to others to just read their information without giving back. This is a free forum and members put time into writing posts, taking pictures, and taking a chance to put their work up for others to criticize. I wanted to give information back to others in the hope they may have found something that eluded me.
After a while I started to venture out beyond the Stallion threads. I started to meet the community of other riders of TT. I met Harley riders, Honda riders, VW riders, custom riders, other brand riders, and even riders who did not own a trike yet! I began to recognize that they were a great group of people. As I developed friendships I began to look at TT as more than just a place to research, or post my findings, it became a place to connect with friendly people who all had a similar interest. TT has become a portal to a community of trike riders I consider my extended family.
