    Default Fork Wind Deflectors

I was reading about front fork wind deflectors and lower tree baffles from tglide stuff.com. I was wondering if anyone has used these items and are they worth purchasing?
    Thanks Dave1211

A number of us have them. Love them and would recommend them.

I have them & highly recommend them. They cut out all the air between the tank & forks.

I have them also....not only do they reduce the wind in the face...they also just about stopped my head buffeting.

Since I'm only 5'4" I get alot of wind in my face. The deflectors on the forks and underside baffle has taken care of that. I get just enough wind to be comfortable. Here is a pic of mine, they are the black wrinkle ones on a black tg. To me they just disappear and you don't notice they are there.

All are shipped now with just the 2" lower Lexan baffle. These work for all weather.

I have always wondered about these fork deflectors. I can only remember ever seeing one bike that had them. Not a good indication of something that's really needed.
I get just enough wind in my face to be comfortable. I welcome that wind when the temps are over 80*. My question is, doesn't it deflect some air from the engine also???
Being on a trike, I want as much air as possible flowing around me.

    Help me understand the concept.

As with any product, some like them some do not.
These were developed for cold weather at first, then I found on those long highway days, keeping the upper body from being beat around, well, felt better at end of day. (thats my concept)
Again, what some like and want, others cuss at.

I for one am a huge fan of the deflectors, and I believe they seem to route more air down around the motor. That air has to go somewhere, it is not coming over the top of the tank anymore, and it appears to me that the downward aim of the lexan piece throws it straight down at the front of the motor and then it goes around both sides from there. If you dont have these deflectors, do 65 mph and put your hand down above the tank and the fairing and feel how much air is blasting over the top of the tank and right into your chest and face. These will stop that, reroute it down to the motor, and you still get plenty of air if you need it by messing with the built in batwing deflectors.

Over the weekend, we rode back 350 miles from Utah in 98 degrees with a 35 to 40 mile per hour head wind and depending on the freeway direction, sometimes a cross wind, the whole distance. Had the cruise set at 82 to 85 depending on traffic, and areas where certain authorities hang out with laser guns. My BOB {Babe on Back} and I both were thankful for the deflectors and Long Ride Shield windshield. We were not getting beat up by the wind at all. Went past a lotta 2 wheelers that could barely keep their bikes in their lane. Watched 'em in my rear view mirror as they fell way back behind me. Our TG sliced right thru the air with no prob or the constant buffeting that comes with those speeds and strong winds.

Those deflectors are worth every dime to us.

    Thnx again Dennis!

I am happy just using the deflector that mounts to the tree..It does help cut down on the wind to the face and chest..

It has not made a difference on how it keeps the engine cool..

Hey Trent, I was westbound on the I-70 on Sunday. Covered Mt. Vernon, IL to Junction City, KS. Stopped in Silverthorne, CO yesterday and St. George, UT today. Maybe we crossed paths on Sunday?

Hey Bobs! I was only down as far as Salt Lake City, so I missed ya...Grew up in Utah and really love the southern end which has amazing views to see while ridin' with your wind deflectors! Ha! We are leaving Idaho on July 12th, with our deflectors, and headed your way to Paso Robles. Prob around the 15th or 16th...

Not meant to "help" cooling of engine, but allot of testing has shown me it doesn't raise engine temps. Lets face it, these puppies run on warm side.
These are made to help with strong gust of air on rider. The Tri gets more of this than any Ultra I rode before.

I should have stated bike runs normal with the deflector.. It just helped with the wind at the chest and face..

I havent tried the fork deflectors yet and dont feel I need them..

Several have stated to me that they have only ran the lower tree deflector and not the fork wings.
I find the fork wings come into play for me on the interstate. I also feel folks come up with different results with different windshields.

In my post I was refering to the fork slider deflectors. It seems most people are referring to the defector under the steering head and some are referring to the fork deflectors, is that correct? I'm getting confused on who's talking about which. Doesn't take much to confuse me.

I'm interested in how the fork deflectors work.
