    Well I'm not an engineer nor a scientist heck I can't even spell it right.

    But I have been doin a little playin with the air flow and oil temp on the Trike.

    As most of you know, I have a 120r motor in my trike, and the oil temp can get hot. I don't want it above 240 and would like it at 230.

    I have found when looking at the oil temp guage; lowers on or off no differance on oil temp but more hot wind on me. Opened or closed, no differance on oil temp, just more or less hot air on me.

    Without fork deflectors, no differance on oil temp, but more hot air on me, and also a lot of air under my chin.

    So I put the lowers and fork deflectors back on. If I want more air on me, I will open the lowers and the bat wing deflectors.

    I had the stock oil cooler removed and installed the Ultra oilcooler with fans. Works like a champ.

    Bottom line. Fork deflectors work and do not hurt the air flow of the motor that I can see.

    Disclaimer; I did not shoot with a temp gun, and ain't gonna.

    Order - Street Glide Wind Deflectors
    I no longer make and sell these, turned it all over to him, also have no $$$ interest in them. Still the same designs and Randy is one of the "good" guys to deal with.

    Talking Re: Fork Wind Deflectors

    pepperpepperOrdered my wind deflector's and triple tree baffle this past Saturday, and got them today in the mail. Got all three of them on in 10 minutes, maximum!
    Already took them out for a test ride. I don't know why I waited this long!!!
    I had no problem with wind coming up between the tank and the front fairing, also, I did not have to squint from the wind coming up between those two areas. There was no wind pushing my helmet off my face area or there was no wind coming up under my face shield or my chin bar of my full face helmet!! Instructions with color photos was very explicit and very easy to follow thank you!
    QUALITY WORKMANSHIP FOR A GREAT IDEA!!
    These items are highly recommend for any Harley trike owner.
    pepper
    Along with these items, and with the tour pack rails and lift kit from Dennis, I've got a winner of a trike!
    THANKS GUYS!!!

    Boy! did I have a misconception on the baffle. I thought the baffel everyone was talking about was a half moon type like the one from Harley.
    Just looked at website. I'm going to order a baffle since I ride all winter here in Chicago and anything that will keep some of the cold air off will be welcome. I don't think I'll need the fork deflectors though.
    Will have to wait and see if I need to take it off for the summer so I can get some breeze over the upper body - not too much - just enough to evaporate the sweat.

    Gary, get the fork deflectors also ! You won't regret it. Leave all on for the summer also & get rid of all that up draft. If you need more air you can use the side wings. Or also I am looking at doing the windshield vent I can shut it off when I want. But getting rid of all that turbulence is worth a lot to me. Or should I say control it.

    <div class="message">Since I'm only 5'4" I get alot of wind in my face. The deflectors on the forks and underside baffle has taken care of that. I get just enough wind to be comfortable. Here is a pic of mine, they are the black wrinkle ones on a black tg. To me they just disappear and you don't notice they are there.<br />
    <img src="http://i67.photobucket.com/albums/h295/sarge384/DSC03780.jpg" border="0" alt="" /></div>

    </div>
    </div>
    </div>On my 2 wheeler there is a a kind of half bowl shaped wind deflector connected to the back of the triple tree between the forks and the tank. This was OEM at the time, and cuts down on the wind coming up between the tree and the tank. I guess the MoFoCo decided to save a buck or two some years ago and sells the baffle as an option, or you can get it aftermarket. <br />
    I use the triangle shaped wind deflectors on my 2 wheeler in the winter for cold weather riding along with soft lowers. They cut down on the wind coming over the top of the lowers. My opinion, and YMMV, is that on my bike (1990 FLHS, the predesessor to the Road King) they are shave-the-dogs-rear-and-make-him-walk-backwards ugly, but they have a function and do the job.

    They go on about this time of year and come off in early March when it starts warming up.

    I order a set of fork wind deflectors in a bare metal finish. I wanted them to match my vivid black gloss finish on my bike. Just got them back from getting Powder Coated Vivid Black. Wasn't too bad at $50 for both. They really look good and like everyone has stated, they really cut out the wind buffeting behind the windshield. Since they are the same color as the rest of the bike they really blend in, especially because of the lower fairings.

    Talked to Randy who makes the deflectors this week. He is working on new style for the 2014. Said he was close but allot had changed with the lowers and such.
    I also find they work, will not do a trip without them.

    Hi Sparky, I know this is an old post but I'm glad to hear that the deflectors worked for you. I am considering a set for my 2012 TG. We are neighbors-I live in Grayslake!
