Falcon1 noted that his 41 psi was at cold. No one else has remarked whether they measure at hot or cold. Please advise. It seems to me that my roadsmith was riding rough at 41 psi (cold). After riding 50 miles in 94 degree weather, I measured the psi and came up with 46. I lowered the presure to 40 (hot) and received a much better ride coming home. Is this just me??? Also will the tire start cupping at 40 psi (hot)
    Thanks for the imput.

I'm "experimenting" right now with 42 Cold....Hot gain yesterday after an hour of ridin' twisties was at 44. Startin' to feel more "consistant" to me. Using around 39 in the past got Summertime Hot gains of sometimes 45-47. The higher pressure seems to be cooling the tire better for less overall gains...Hopin' for less cupping too......."We'll See".....

My experience is that once a tire starts to cup it cannot be reversed. I would be very careful running the lower pressures especially with the Pilot Activ or BT45.

    Default REAR tire air pressure

So what is the least amount of air pressure you can put in the rear tires. I ran into a guy tonight running a Frankenstein kit on a Small Harley. He is running 23 # in the rear and it rides like a truck. I told him to drop the pressure. How far can he go. 14# or lower. He is a member. hope he see this and chimes in . NANA how low can you go with your rear tires

John I keep mine at 17-18 psi. I've had it down to 16 without problem, but below that it begins to feel too soft. If I have mine over 20 psi, it is way too rough for comfort. Note that I don't weigh a lot and I ride solo.

    Default Tyre pressures?????

Hello boys & girls... I know this topic has probably been thrashed to death but I have left it too late to go hunting around
What is the average tyre pressures for the goldwing 1800 Front and Rear. I am running at the moment 21 at the back and 41 at the front. I have done this for years without problems but one of our club members tried this on his CSC (same pressures) but was non too happy with the ride
So dig deep and post away

My 09 owners manual manual says 36 in the front so I go with that and I have 25 in the rear tires. I had them at 20 but didn't like them that low. Mine is a Motortrike Adventure Kit.

I have been running 18 rear, and 41 front on my '05 gl1800 roadsmith conversion. I am new here and missed the other recommendations. What are the most often used pressures?

Wolf we have been running 38 front and 26 rear on our 06 GL 1800 CSC for the last 10K miles with no complaints. I think the rear would depend more on your two up weight.

I'd have a hard time believing Road Smith recommends that much air pressure. Motor Trike says 24 pounds. I think most of us bump that up to 26 or 27 but 35 is just too much....

I have an HT1800 with Kuhmo tires. Roadsmith told me to run 28-30 psi. After experimenting I found them on the money. I use 28 two-up on local rides and 30 when we're traveling fully loaded.

My MotorTrike I run 42 psi in the front BT-45 and the rears 24 psi. I adjust the air shocks depending on the number of passengers and if I am pulling a trailer.

I did it just the opposite--------started at 22 and dropped down to 16 pounds. Have rode probably 5000 miles with these tire pressures and only thing it has done is soften the ride---a lot !!

    Default Air pressure in tires

I know I have seen this on this forum, just can' recall. How much pressure should I run in front tire and rear tires on a '97 Goldwing with a Motor Trike conversion? The front tire is a Dunlop Elite 3 and the rear tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Thanks.

What is your thinking on the uneven tire pressure on the rear from left to right?

    Inquiring minds want to know?

At 7000 miles the E3 will have the center worn out and will not pass inspection.

Thanks for the response. I belive I will run 41 front and 24 in rears. Hey Lucky, why the different pressures in the rears on your trike? Just courious. Also , what does MPA stand for?

Like Lucky, many rider carry a pound or two extra air in the right side. Especially if they ride mostly in the right side with that left tire on the higher level. It helps keep the trike running straight down the road.

BTW.. MPA is Michelin Pilot Activ. That and the Bridgestone BT45 Battleax are the two preferred trike front tires. They last much longer and give better performance.

Thanks for the info. I have changed my mind and try the way that Lucky does. Also is the front tire mounted in reverse instead of the way they are supposed to be mounted.

Russ that's a matter of choice. I don't think any of us can say for sure one way or another. Some of the tire companies have gone on record saying reverse is best. If you ride hard and use a lot of front brake maybe so. I am pretty aggressive so I do run my BT45 in reverse.

On the Michelin Pilot Activ tire you are running up front, is that a front tire or the the Michelin Pilot Activ back tire that you have installed in the front?

The MPA discussed above is a rear motorcycle tire mounted on the front of the trike.

    Default Raising Front Tire Pressure

    Sept. 12, 2012

I purchased my 2005 GL1800 Trike (Lehman Monarch II) a few weeks ago from "East Coast Cycle Center" Bensalem, Pa. I love it. My question is this: The mechanic suggested I put 36 in front and 26 in rear. Everything seems to be fine. I just put on a new BS Exedra G709. I am reading all the articles about front tire pressure where people seem to put 41 in the front tires. What will be different if I up the front pressure to 41 instead of 36 ? How will that effect tire wear and handling when making turns?
