    Default Progressive Insurance

For around three hundred dollars a year I have full coverage insurance on the bike and trailer. You also have three thousand dollars of accessory coverage according to the Agent. Lost an accessory on the way to the Rally last week. About $148 worth and turned a claim in this morning. Sorry, you didn't read the fine print, all accessories must be permanently attached. Well guess what Progressive, your --- is going to be permanently deleted before my next ride. I have a good agent and she was caught off guard by the finely buried print as well. Lost or stolen helmets are not covered either. Ok, I'm done ranting, my fault for taking the agents interpretation of the coverage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Do any of the insurance companies cover stolen helmets? I've often wondered about that, seeing I don't have a trunk to put mine in.

Most insurance is not that good when it comes to claims. I had a wreck 3 years ago and ruined my helmet, chaps, and prescription sunglasses. The total of these items was 800.00 my cost, Farmers gave me 268.00. Most motororcycle policies are designed to be low cost and minimal coverage. They did pay for repairs to the bike after the deductable-but custom parts were covered only to the amount of stock parts.

I have State Farm. Will ask agent if helmets are covered? Let Y'all know when I find out.

Sorry for the delay, but State Farm just got back to me on the coverege of helmets if stolen. My agent told me they are covered, but again, that's subject to the deductable. But, hey, they are covered.
    Hope this helps.

Haven't had a clam on my Progressive but did brake down and had to use the roadside service. They sent out a truck that hauled us 50 mile to the service center and was back on the road with no cost. So, insurance may no pay but the roadside service is great.

Have to agree on the Progressive road side service. We were out for a Sunday evening ride a few months ago and the rear tire lost air and the sidewall was trashed. Called Progressive and they stayed in contact with both me and the tow truck while he found us way out in rural Medina Co. Texas. The truck got there pretty quickly too. I had the bike drug to my home and I put it in the shop and pulled the rear wheel and got a new tire put on later that next week. I was super happy with Progressive's road side service. Very PROFESSIONAL.

I was told the same thing kwputt. Nice to know that I have to tell them a different story in order to collect if I have a similar incident. wiredgeorge, this sounds like a good reason to have Progressive, which by the way is one of the very few insurance companies that will insure trikes. The others I talked to wanted to insure my trike as a "custom motorcycle".

I am new to the issue of trike insurance however I will not use Progressive for my insurance because of their owners anti American agenda. There is lots of internet horay about Progressive.
My agent has my Road Star and Venture on Dairyland and I will go with them if it all works out. If not I'll just do whatever I have to do but Progressive will be last on the list.
Does anyone else out there in cyber space have any other input?

Sorry, USAA stopped Insuring Motorcycles. If you have a policy with them, you can keep it but no new ones. They refer you to Progressive.

My husband and I have progressive. He wrecked his bike last summer and all clothing and bike add ons are only covered by the $3000 and because of that they totaled the bike. I have a Goldwing trike and upped the accessory coverage as $ 3000 will not come near to replace a trik e add on let alone all the chrome extras and lights.

I have Allstate and my agent sux, long story short I upped my "add on" to $12,000 to cover the trike kit. Extra $60 a year. I am paying around $650 a year, will try to find something cheaper. Will NOT be Progressive.

progressive.. sometimes a name can be ironic. i contacted progressive for short term insurance in the USA. told them i live in australia and have bought a trike in the USA that i intend to come to the USA and ride the trike for a month or so before shipping it back to Australia.
the reply was... we dont insure in Australia,,,
so maybe a better name for them might be regressive

I have Gieco for my Trike. I pay $311 a year with a $50.00 dollar deductable. It covers my GW and all add on accessories (Trike KIt is considered add on). Total coverage is $40,000.00 in the event of an accident or total loss (including stolen), but it does not cover stolen helmets or item stolen out of trike compartments, but helmets and riding gear damaged in accident are covered. It also comes with roadside assistance ie: Towing on Flatbed, Fuel delivery (incase you forget to look at fuel gauge), lockout(?), they will send out a locksmith, and vehcile rental if traveling and Trike can not continue onpepper.
