Needing to wire it up for a trailer

I have a 97 Wing with a motortrike kit on it. I want to pull a small trailer and it has a hitch but no wiring harness for the trailer lights. What is the best way to get the wiring back there? I was looking at Cyclemax and they sell a trailer wiring harness (Item B2-448) and the pin harness converter (Item 45-1848), will this still work since it is now a trike or what route should I go to get it wired?

Yes both should still work on your Motor Trike conversion. Some installers relocate the wiring harness you will be looking for up under the seat so it's easier to get to. If not you may have to dig a bit but it's all possible.

I would suggest you use the isolating harness (45-8945) instead of the non isolating one. It's only a couple bucks more and can save you a world of heart ache.

Hey Gold Rush, would that be the same install on an 07 wing? And how do you access the rear lights on the Motor trike kit, it being a 2012 Adventure.

I know shoulda had the dealer install harness while kit was being installed. I did go for the hitch though, guess I figured there would be a connector or something, oh well, liveing and still learnin.

No, the GL1500 and GL1800 use different "Plug and Play" harness assemblies. There are several sources for the harnesses in a pretty wide price range. I like to use isolated harnesses because if anything does short out on the trailer you won't fry the bike wiring.

As for locating the wires. I think you will find by removing the seat you will be able to get to them. They use to live up under the trunk behind the rear fender before the conversion. Some installers relocate them and others try to hide them.. Hope yours is the former.
