    Default Capt Itch Crotch Cooler

Just tried out my new crotch cooler. Who would have thought such a simple design could have such a great impact. I'm very impressed. Very high quality materials and workmanship. Easy to install and works great on my TriGlide keeping heat off of my thighs. Thank you Larry and Isabell.

I got mine about 4 days ago. Only tried it once and it really kept the heat off my thigh. I put my hand above and below the cooler going down the street and there was a big difference in heat. I usually fry my left thigh with the Rinehart true duals, but the cooler did it's job and I had no fried thigh.

What I did notice was more heat on my calfs( wearing shorts) then before. This was probably because of no pain on the thigh, so I noticed the heat on the calfs more then before. At least I can move my foot to a highway peg or away from the engine to keep the calf heat down.

The Capt. Itch crotch cooler is a good buy and really works.

Will these keep any of the heat off of the passenger ? ? ?

I don't think there is much help for the passenger. Take a look at the picture of the leather shield at Capt Itch's link: Captain Itch - Quality Motorcycle Leather Goods
You can see it is positioned specifically at the driver's thigh area. I can tell you from experience that it works amazingly well for the driver, is very attractive, and blends in well with the seat. It was well worth the investment to me

I had a local lady make me a custom made cooler that fits around the A/C and side covers. It is a little bit bigger. She sandwiched in some material she uses on foundry workers aprons. They work fantastic. One thing I noticed while riding on the highways is that the cooler acts like wings and float a little, which looks like that helps funnel air to the rear cylinder.

Riding a bike in shorts!!! You're a lot braver then me. I wouldn't think of riding in shorts or wearing, and I see a lot of riders doing so, tennis (gym)shoes (do they still call them tennis shoes or even gym shoes anymore)? LOL

Riding in shorts is not the best idea, but I'm not riding around here in jeans during the summer. It's either shorts or no ride for me. The crotch cooler works but not to that extent.

Maybe I need the crotch ice box instead of cooler.

I don't know the proper term for tennis shoes either. Guess they don't call them sneakers anymore either.

i was wondering if it helped cool the motor or if it held the heat in.

Frang, they might hold the heat in in stop and go riding.

pigbike, from the waist down temps don't bother me - too much, I've been know to wear chaps in the summer on long highway trips also. In the winter all I wear is a set of chaps when everyone else has on 2 or 3 pairs of longjohns and chaps.
Can't imagine getting hit with a stone or junebug on bare legs.
It's like I wear a mesh jacket in the summer - people look at me and think I'm crazy. I tell them I bet I'm 20* cooler then they are because it's blocking 100% of the sun. The same goes for jeans - blocking the heat from the engine - at least for me they do and I've been riding in 100* + temps for weeks now.

I was thinking about you problem, I work for a steel fabricator, and though of something. If you know someone that works in sheet metal, maybe you can work with him and come up with some kind of shield that bolts to the floor boards or ?? and comes up high enough to shield the heat from your calfs and also direct air toward the engine. Line the outside of the shield with leather so you don't burn your legs if you happen to touch it. Just thinking out loud.
With all the members on this forum, we should be able to come up with some ideas. ........NO, not buy a Goldwing.

Do I need this on my 2012 TriGlide?
    It already has plastic guards.

If I do, do I remove the plastic guards?

    Thanks

Need, I put one on my 2010 Heritage 2 wheeler and my 2012 Triglide.

Works great on both. On the Triglide I took off the plastic ones. They made the crotch cooler look like dumbo ears. Much better for me than the plastic ones, but don't have a way to check the engine heat difference.

They do help to keep the heat off your upper thigh. Dont need to remove the plastic ones. They will form to the bike with use.

Has anyone tried the RJ Original "no more fried thighs." Just wondering what the difference is between the two. Sounds like the "crotch cooler" works quite well.

I have the RJ Original on my 2010 TriGlide. They work GREAT. They fit around the side covers just fine and are very easy to install. Very nice custom look.

Thanks to all for turning me on to the Capt. Itch Crotch Cooler. I bought one for my Heritage Softail because my right thigh would really get "hot" when I was riding on hot days. I couldn't believe the difference. I went for a 95degree ride and not only did my thigh not get hot it didn't even get warm. I highly recommend it.

Mine came yesterday and I put it on last night. Had kids and grand kids yesterday so couldn't ride. Rode this morning. A great big thanks to everyone for your comments. It's going to be 95+ for the next month or 2 here in Houston and this really helps.
