Default Thinking of selling/trading my 2012 TriGlide

I am thinking of going back to a Goldwing.
I have having a hard time adjusting to the riding difference of 3 wheels.
    The harder ride, and heat.
Also lack of power compared to the wing.

I don't know, maybe having a bad week.
This is my first trike, and can only compare to a 2 wheel Goldwing.

    The problem, I only have a 26 1/2 inseam.
Harley steered me away from their 2 wheel and shock adjustments and seat, said it would change the ride.
    Regards,

    Frank

Thumbs up Re: Thinking of selling/trading my 2012 TriGlide

I am doing the same thing! I really enjoy the Tri-glide, but find myself on my ultra classic most of the time. I've put over 10,000 miles on it and still like 2 wheels better. It is great in city traffic when two up, but ride solo a lot. Maybe when I can't handle the 2wheels I will go back.

If you setup the trike to your size it makes the ride so much more enjoyable.

    Handlebars or seating etc.

I just sit back and cruise.

I dont have to worry about putting my foot down in a puddle of oil or ridding on wet oily pavement . And on windy days trying to hold the bike up while its trying to blow me sideways..

    well good luck..

    Good luck.
I'm 68 and I know I would have been able to handle my 2010 Limited for at least another 5 years - easily, but in five years I will probably be out of a job (maybe even next week the way buisness it right now) and I wouldn't have the money for a trike/sidecar, but I have the money now. So that's why I bought the TG at this time. I wish I had the money for 2 bikes, then I could still ride 2 wheels whenever I wanted to.
So, if I lose my job I'm set for at least 7 years since I bought the extended warrany and VIP service plan.
Every year I volunteer to help with H-D demo rides - so I do get to ride all the other bikes for 2 days.

That is a good point, the way the economy is currently.
I guess I could trike out the goldwing, not sure what I would gain, as I never rode a goldwing trike

Frocco, You might like the independabt suspension some Goldwing trike kits come with as they are said to ride better. But have heard from some independant suspension owners say there can be handling problems with I. S. (Independant suspension owners?)

If you have a problem of some type, the bike manufacturer might blame it on the installation of the trike kit, and the trike people might try to blame it on the bike manufacturer. You can bet that won't be settled to your satisfaction!

Honda might have more bells and whistles, and maybe more dependability (ran into a guy with a '98 Wing trike that had 200,000 miles on it, he claimed). Those are all nice things for the Honda, but ya just can't beat Harley for character and resale value.

Sounds like I might be better staying with the TG.
I would most likely take a bath in trading.

Guess I could tweak it as I get cash.
Also I have no local Honda dealer here,
That is why I purchased the TG

Sure is a nice looking ride Frocco. Think I'd hang on to it. I too miss 2whs but can"t afford both.

You are comparing apples and oranges Frocco! I rode a friend's GW trike and there's no comparison to the HD tri-glide. At least the TG came from the factory as a trike (think warranty), whereas if you buy a GW and trike it would think the warranty goes out the window. Like others have said, could be you need to look at a different seat (other than stock), wind-shield, etc. Do you have the lift brackets installed? World of difference in the ride (thanks Dennis). Pump up the air shocks....don't leave them "flat" at zero.

Frocco contact Dennis at tGLIDE Stuff.com. His customer service and his products are second to none. The lift allows you to lower shock pressure for smoother ride and somewhat aids steering ease. Also levels the looks of the TG. Give em a try.

Its not a real fair comparison when you compare a 2 wheel or even triked wing vs the Triglide. The wing is going to have more power, run cooler and be quieter. The ergonomics are totally different between the 2 brands. I just road a 2012 2 wheel Wing for 500 miles this past weekend and when I got back on my 06 Ultra Classic it felt like I was on a sportster, it felt narrower and much smaller but just as heavy. They each have their good and bad points and each person has to decide what fits their style of riding.

I'm going to be switching to a Wing because I value my wifes hearing, she is deaf in her left ear and with all the extra wind buffeting and noise her right ear is taking a beating. I kept to 50 state legal SE muffler and it is not louder than stock, I think most of the problem is the wind. After riding on the Wing at 80 mph she mentioned it was the 1st time she could clearly hear the radio while traveling 80 mph on the freeway. She also noticed her ear didn't feel funny and the sounds muted after riding for several hours like it does on the HD.

Fortunately I've been blessed with the means to own more than one bike so I can have my 06 Ultra Classic as a play toy and something else for traveling. Once I put some miles on the Wing I'll be having it triked, I love traveling with a trike its just so much more comfortable.

I'm female and I miss 2 wheels so bad. Especially when my friends give me a hard time about the trike. But I'm 61 yo and I know that I could not ride a Street Glide/Electra Glide for maybe a couple of years. I'm also only 5'4". I found that the TG has given me the freedom to go anywhere I want. Yes it punches a huge hole in the air causing alot of wind noise, I have gone to ear plugs, they help alot. I can still hear the radio fine. Yes, its hot, that will be an issue until I can get my hands on a Fullsac head pipe and TTS, they are testing the new ones now, hopefully will be shipped by the end of the month. Yes the seat is junk. Now, this baby has back and that seat hurts after a while. So, during this winter I will look for another seat to help my back side, heard Ultimate is good. I changed the handlebars before deliver to the 2" pull backs. That helped me a ton. What I like most, I can set the cruise and just cruise. I have the 7 years warranty and the tire/wheel warranty, so I'm good if I treat it right and the dealers cover me on the engine mods.

The dance of 2 wheels made me feel so powerful leaning into the curves. Being a woman who could keep up with any guy, I was always welcomed to ride anywhere with the boys. But again I'm getting alot older and I want to see the country side. the TG has to be manhandled a little, just will keep my upper body stronger and my heart feeling good that I have the freedom to ride anywhere I want without any worry of dropping a bike, haveing an issue parking, and I don't have to ask someone to move my bike for me. So for now, its all good.

Post Re: Thinking of selling/trading my 2012 TriGlide

I was recently in a similar situation as to which trike to go for. A Harley (tri-glide) or a Wing. Although I like the feet forward position that Harley has, comfort was my main consideration! As many of you might know, I absolutely HATE the heat! The Wing, being a cooler running machine, won in that category alone along with it's supposed higher reliability and power. That being said, last week I brought home a 2005 Wing with a brand new Roadsmith conversion. I also had Roadsmith's new comfort controls installed on her to aide in the foot placement which worked out pretty good. But it's been so damn hot out that I only rode her once for a short period and I haven't been out in the garage to start tinkering and installing all of the options I've ordered from WingStuff because of the heat! This continuing hot weather is really preventing me from doing anything! Come on WINTER! (And yes, I do ride in the cold weather, lol)

    1. I also ride all winter here in Chicago. It's a blast to see the expressions on peoples faces and the people in the restaurants we go to.
    2. I would not even think of getting on a bike without ear plugs. I can hear my music and GPS clear as a bell at highway speeds. I updated my speakers to HOG-TUNES.
    3. Try putting less air in the rear tires for a softer ride.
    4. The H-D Road Zepplin seat is, in my opinion, hands down the best seat available for long distance trips.
    5. Yes, you will take a bath trading in the TG
    6. Have you bought the crotch cooler and floorboard extenders yet?
    7. Ask your friends what will they be riding when they are in their 70's/80's - I bet it won't be 2 wheels. LOL

I do not have a heat problem and I haven't even removed the cat/pipes.

    After reading a few posts...

A good ( or long ) Warranty does not mean it's a good deal or a good trike. ford and chevy have great warranties... but, I'll take the Porsche every time.

There truly is no way you can compare a GL 1800 ( triked out ) and a Tri-Glide... The Harley looks better ( IMO ) sounds pretty good stock and has a more mechanical feel to it. The GW Smooth power, looks fine and almost has a space ship feel while eating up miles. Both are good it's a choice.

Yes Two wheel riding is GREAT, trikes are great too if it means you'll be riding. There is a trade off when you get use to one way of riding and then switch to an other. I have spoken with people who have never rode a two wheeler in their life and they love trikes and would never think about two wheels. While there are people who claim that they will never trike... but when they lose the ability to ride two wheels.. they tend to have a change of heart.
Some people will never get what you are saying... It's best to just walk away before the storm! ThumbUp

You're right,Warranties are just things for piece of mind. Has nothing to do with is a car/bike good or not.
Porsche's are very nice cars, but I wouldn't buy oun. First I can't afford one and second I would be paranoid about someone stealing it.

You're absolutely right about bikers saying they would never ride a trike.
I will go so far as saying I would even ride a motor scooter if that's all that was available. I don't worry about my image - I just like riding in the wind - either 2 wheels or 3 wheels - rain, sun, heat, cold - doesn't matter.

Default Re: Thinking of selling/trading my 2012 TriGlide

We bought the 09 trike after wife's Chemo treatments killed the feeling in her hands and feet, a pretty common side effect for her type of cancer. She had trough walking, let alone balancing a 600# motorcycle. Her trike with her driving has lapped the Grand Canyon twice, and run through Arizona, Nevada, Utah, Colorado and most of California. We bought the 11 after my open heart surgery. Between the heart and diabetes I tend to list about 5* to port. Doesn't help trying to balance a 600# motorcycle. She got the new one, I got the old. Neither of us were ready for a rocking chair, the trikes kept us on the road. I've gotten in trouble on this board and the other trike board because I kind of get tired of the whining. You bought a trike, a 4 door station wagon, a Harley based on 1940's technology. If power, acceleration, wheelies, was your bag, you bought he wrong bike. We have never had a heating problem, the trikes ride like..... well, Harleys, and we are Harley snobs. I can't go as fast as I could on my Ducati, but Harleys don't go that fast. I can't corner like I could on my Dyna, but there is an extra wheel back there. I don't write volumes about 'wind buffeting' because this is a motorcycle, not a car. That is why there are no window to roll up. I wear ear buds and listen to music, not wind noise. There has been people on this and the other board carp for hours about the bad ride on their trike, then ask where the air fill for the shocks are. I better stop talking before I start getting PM's again. Bottom line, if you are unhappy with your trike, by all means dump that piece of crap, go and get that Wing and join the throngs of happy people on the Wing board. Personally I don't want to read about how much better your Wing is, the extra power, water cooler. I've ridden Wings, they have just as many problems as Harleys, there are just a lot more of them out there.

First, get the rear end off the ground. (1-1/4'' lift from Dennis) Second, 30# air in the shocks. (For riding double) Third, 22# air in the rear tires. Enjoy!!
