Well, we made it back from the Ozarks yesterday (Wed) about 5:30 pm. Had a real blast. Started out on Monday at 9:00 am from my house in Broken Arrow, Ok. rode to Queen Willamina (Not spelled right) lodge on senic hwy 1 that runs from Okla. to Ark. we had lunch there and took a couple of pictures which I'll figure out how to post later, then we rode on to Hot Springs and then on to Pine Bluff. We were going to suprise a friend but he was out of pocket so didn't make contact with him until Tues. He rode back to Hot Springs with us on his harley and bought our lunch, and showed us around the city and the lakes.
About 3 pm we told him good bye and started up hwy hwy 7, which is a fantastic ride with lots of curves, hills and views. We were heading for Harrison but when we got to Russellville it was close enough to dark that we got a motel next door to a steak house and it don't get much better than that.
Wed. morning we went the other side of the motel and had breakfast at Waffle House and then jumped on I-40 and went about 40 miles West to the Pig Trail (Hwy 23) and started North towards Eureka Springs.
It is a fantastic road with tight 10 mph turns and views that are fantastic. My friend had never been on that road before. We went through Huntsville and on to hwy 12 which runs long Beaver Lake to Rogers, Ar. At rogers we stopped by the Pig Trail Harley shop (A sight to see) and then came on home.
We are already starting to plan the next ride.
Within about an hour to hour and a half we can be in some fantastic riding country. Arkansas is a never ending senic highway and we are planning on going back to see more of them.
I'll try to get my pic's added later. It was hard to take pictures without the wife there to help. The one I really wanted was a big curved arrow around the number 10 on a hair pin curve but there was not any place to pull over and take it so maybe next time.
I did learn a lot more about the rike in the 800 miles that we traveled. I lead the entire way so I could set the pace and practice all I wanted to.
I really feel better about the tike now that I've ridden these roads.
