Well picked up my bike today... The dealer had me practice for a while before I took it home (125 mile ride). Driving in the city had its ups and down..
With the city roads I had to get use to holding on the the steering tight..
When I got on the interstate started out 65 MPH and got it up to 80 MPH.
Felt it kinda want to go right abit, so I will have to take it back for an adjustment..About 90 miles into the trip I had to slow down between 50-60 MPH... Felt the front start to shake, the rear was bouncing bad. He told me he had filled the tires to 32 PSI... He said you have to make adjustments accordingly. The owners Manuel reads to have it at 20 PSI... He mention his bike runs better ar 32, so that is why he did mine to start out with...
When I take it back I will ask him about the preload... Its ok, But would
    like it stiffer!

Voyager Owners if you have any tips send them my way!

To take the excess lean out of the Voyager increse the preload and the maximum I'd use is 3/4". Even though the VTX1300 calls for 1/4" by the installation manual, it can be increased to 1/2". The installation manual doesn't tell you everything. I had been through dealer training in '06 and there are a lot of tricks they don't state in the book. In rare instances you can bring the preload up to 1". I would only resort to that preload if necessary.

bigjoey38, Do you have the adjustable shocks in the rear? I put mine in the most rearward position and dropped the air pressure in the rear tires down to about 22 lbs.
    Recheck the preload.
My preload on a 2007 ultra was 3/4 inch.

Now that I think of it ,it was more in the line of 1". The original 1/4 " let the bike wobble from one wheel to the other . After the preload the bike was very stable .

    Hi John

You just said the key word wobble which I feel it does.

The new rubber mount Voyagers I really don't care much for as they are not as good as the shock version, I don't think the ride is as good, I had a client who was talked into the rubber mount version on his GL-1800 and he is very disappointed. I do not tell individuals with heavy bikes to purchase that version:no: from the local dealer. I believe the rubber mount model is a little too finicky and not as forgiving with heavier bikes.

    Trike lady

    Sent you a PM.

Today I made some adjustments on the preload and it feels way better.
Does not feel as loose and the turns feel way better. I felt so comfortable that I had my wife rode with me in town. This was ou first time riding together. She had a knee replacement and I was not comfortable riding
on two wheels when I had my 84 Goldwing. When I got my VTX I could actually keep my feet on the ground, but I new I was going to get a kit
so the wife can join me.

I still need to do another adjustment.

    Thanks Eveyone for your help

Fine tune the Voyager and your bike for a ride that is best for you. I have a Wing with air shocks and I keep them at 47 and the tire pressure to what the book calls for along with a 3/4" preload and a 20psi on the Voyager tires. Yet I know other people who use a different series of settings in their fine tune adjustments.
Now just enjoy the ride and have fun .

Setup is the key to a good ride on a Voyager kit Joey. Sounds like youre getting it tuned right.

Just finished my Voyager kit install, and have found that I like the preload set slightly higher than the original recommendation. Have also tried more air in the outboard wheels - don't do that unless you like riding a basketball, way too much bounce. Took lots of pics during my install and will share the experience soon. Still have to mount the fender tail lights. Here is a pic so far http://i628.photobucket.com/albums/u...yager/0051.jpg

    Denny-
Good looking trike..always liked that color combo on the Ultra. The Voyager looks more like a full trike than any other add-on trike kit out there and if they are set up right they are a good ride.
