    Question Pingel Electric Shifter

I am having some numbness in my left foot and I came across this electric shifter for Goldwings. Does any one out in Trikeville have one of these or know of them to pass on some information to me about them. I have a 1997 GW with a Cal. SC. It was converted in '02 it is my first trike and it seems to ride a little rough. Would it have IRS. I ride with 30-35 #'s onboard air pressure. Actual mileage is 37,600 on the GW.

Welcome to trikedom cincydude. I am kind of the redheaded stepchild of the forum-but I think you have a solid axel, if she rides rough. You might want to play with the air pressure in the tires also-if you have too much air they will give a bouncy ride. Those pingel shifters are slick and quite an easy set up. I know a guy that lost a left leg and uses one with no problems-the shift button goes on the left side of the handlebar next to the grip, and they come with brackets for multifit application.

I know quite a few fellas who have the Pingel shifter on the Valkyrie forum. They all swear by it. Go to the Pingel web site below and give them a call.

A well-known and very knowledgable experienced Triker from Maryland, Wheels, is a big fan and user of the Pingel assemblies as well as other such devices available. He is member here and other forums as well.

I do not think CSC. Dos not make a IND rear for the 1500 . Tire pressure should be about 22# Do not be afraid to go as low as 20. If you are running above 30 that is most of the problem . The front works best around 40.....if you need a new front tire get a rear tire bia ply tire the right size for your front rim.

I've had a Kliktronic Electric shifter on my trike for 3.5 years and it has worked beautifully. Any questions or warranty issues are solved immediately, politely and I personally favour the Kliktronic over the Pingle unit.

Thumbs up Re: Pingel Electric Shifter

Welcome to the handicapped league! I'm 74 yrs old and had polio in 1940 now I'm having post-polio problems and can't use my left ankle to shift. I bought an electric Pingle shifter when I purchased my '10 GL CSC Cobra XL trike and it works wonderfully. Have about a year on it and 7000 miles and have only had to adjust it because it wouldn't shift into second properly. I raised the cylinder about 3/16" and it works great. With my initial adjustment per the instructions it would shift up in all the gears but second but I would have to keep trying to shift into second and finally it would go. Just a slight adjustment cured the problem. The other electric shift maker Kliktronic has had some problems I have read on this forum. You can get a Pingle for about $800.00 if you shop this internet. I think I paid around $750 for mine. I've even seen some used ones on the forums. I think you'll like the Pingle.

I have heard all good things about these. I am really looking forward to seeing one in action at a rally or show sometime this spring.

Would you guys who have used and know about the Pingle recommend this device even for non-disabled/handicapped riders? I'm 82 with no leg problems but I do have arthritis in my left hand. Does the Pingle make all shifting easier and quicker?

One of these shifters on a Trike should allow a person to enjoy riding well into the golden years. . .

Konrad, If you can push buttons with your left hand then the pingle will do the shifting for you. Do you have problems with the clutch lever? I wouldn't be able to ride without my Pingle so Life is Good!! If you're in Central Oregon I can show you how it works.

Wish I could install the Pingel shifter on my trike. Unfortunately, it won't work with the new Comfort Controls I have installed from Roadsmith. I already checked with Pingel and Roadsmith,,,,.

I have the Kliktronic Electric shifter on a 2009 Fatboy, with a Motor Trike kit, for about 5 years now and have had zero issues. Have about 45,000 mile on the trike, been out west three times and had no issue at all. Lost left leg in 2007, so getting into natural is a bit of an issue. Need to rest my fake foot on the shifter, then, using the electronic shifter, shift up from 1st into natural. Once you get the hang of it, it works every time. Be safe.

I have the Kilktronic shifter and have not had any problems. I think both are good options for us.
