    Default Options and why

Some on here have experience on the Harley Tri-Glide from 2009, some like me, only two years. (2011 model)<O
We all have done things to them for our own reasons, I would like this thread to discuss what you have done for what reason and if it worked for you or not. Would not like this thread used for someone to knock someone else's choices of modifications'.<O
Bumper: It came on mine as a dealer installed before they put on the floor to sale. I like it and recommend it as an option.<O
Retractable cord on tour box lid: It also was already on mine when I looked at it. I think I will make myself some sort of solid support for it soon as I carry a bag on it while traveling.<O
Luggage rack on Tour Box: I like these for looks and I use it allot. I also installed it with longer hardware and larger washers. Ran my bolts through lid organizer on lid inside to help hold it on.<O
Tour Box lid organizer: I used the old one from my 05 Ultra. I think I will remove and use the ones that go around inside edge of bottom section of tour box.<O></O>
Tour Box light kit: Turns large lights into stop / brake lights. Came from dealer that way and good option.<O
Head Pipes: I bought a stock pipe that had CAT cut out. I wrapped completely with good header pipe wrap. Lessened radiated heat from pipe and CAT on right side. Would go this route again myself. Allows me to run stock slip-ons that gives me a sound a little louder than stock and not too loud to interfere with enjoyment of long days in saddle.<O
Adjustable Back Rest for rider: This I like and use. Liked the old one on my Ultra better but it went with bike. Seemed to have more adjustment and wife liked the pocket in it.<O
Air Cleaner. Put a free flowing one on.<O
    Crotch Cooler: Easy, good modification.<O
Tank Protector: Bra mounted at rear of tank<O
Tuner: Put a Power Vision on bike. As I am no tuner, took a while but I was able to get allot of improvement from motor. Seemed to wake it up in allot of areas. Also like the fact that I can mount the head on bike and use the gauge features. Also no need for PC Lap Top which I do not own.<O
Bagger Bar: Mounted one to use to hold a large older style GPS and the head for tuner. No room for that stuff on stock bars with reverse buttons.<O
Clarks very tall windshield: I prefer to look through shield. I find this shield being taller and wider than stock gives us both better wind and rain protection.
Overall, really like the scooter. Yes, different than a two wheeler but still like it.<O
At this time: Have mounted the Wards Parts Werks fans to bike. Have not been able to test in high heat yet as weather has been overcast and rain. Showing real promise.<O

Had retractable tour pack tether on, wife opened tour pack other day wind caught it, thether broke and now have new tour pack lid ordered. Broke at the front hinge.
Bumper came on trike also: like it.
Had 30 tooth sprocket put on: like
    Put Fatshots on: like
Have Street Sleeper II on, more air: like
Put Woods 555 cams in for needed power: really like
Have tank bra: needed for scratches
Have film on fenders and side pods: Didn't like scuff marks
Put fender bras on, left film on fenders to protect paint: like
Put matching floor board, grips, brake pad and so on.
Put lifts on from Dennis, saving fatshots; really like!!!
Lowered and tinted shield, like to see over it
Passenger pegs for wife: wife likes
    Live to ride everywhere.
Tour pack and trunk pouches: like
    winshield pouches; like
Have more small stuff that everybody else has.

    Default Re: Options and why

    1. Magnetic doors for lowers, no fussing with snaps

    2. V&H Power Duals header with stock mufflers

    3. Kuryakan vertical LED run/brake/turn lights on each side of trunk lid, more light is good

    4. Run/brake/turn light conversion to tour pak lights see above

    5. Arlen Ness K&N air cleaner, more air is good

    6. TTS tuner, makes it run better

    7. Dennis' lift kit, very good, no longer hit mufflers and handles better

    8. Dennis' tour pak relocator. wife likes more room and I can use backrest 2 up

    9. Other additional chrome, chrome is for safety.

    10. Rear bumper for looks and use.

    11. Windshield pouches, more storage easy to get to. Great for sunglasses etc.

    12. Eglidegoodies.com ultra brace tour pak metal arm for holding up tour pak lid.

    13. Cup holders for me and wife. One on handlebar other is mounted between speaker and tour pak for her.

    14. GPS with RAM mount, $99 dollar Garmin. Use a zip lock bag for waterproof kit. Had it on two other bikes.

    15. Kuryakan mud flaps.

    16. MT90 rear tire mounted on front reversed. More tread on pavement, handles better.

    17. Chrome rack mounted to tour pak. Can carry more stuff

    18. Adjustable rider backrest. Even use it with passenger. Absolute must for my back.
Rear lift kit, and tour pak relocation, Road Zepplin Air seat, Chrome front forks, SE 120 ST engine, Headers by V&H, Stock mufflers, SE 259E cams, TTS tuner and SE Air Cleaner, 58 mm Throttle Body, Tank lift, Wind Deflectors, DIY Crankcase Breather, Floorboard Ext.

The lowers with magnet hold, have you also a cup holder mounted there? I had the frame mounted from Harley, not a fan of it, seemed to splill more than it held.

    Both trikes:

    1. Rush / Reinhardt slip-ons to make them louder... we like loud
    2. Harley Stage 1 intakes to compensate for the freer flowing mufflers
    3. Harley Re-map, generic upgrade, or what ever you call it to compensate for 1 and 2
    4. Shortie windshields because they look bitchen and we don't care about 'buffeting'
    5. Floor board extensions to move our legs farther from the rear exhaust header
    6. Extended break and shift levers to help with #5
    7. Adjustable back rests cause we are old
    8. Bumpers because they came with the trikes
    9. Huge foam hand grips, same reason as #7
    10. Oil Temp gages. I'm an engineer and I just gotta know
    11. Headphone jacks for the stereo so we won't bother anyone else riding with us
    12. Almost forgot clutch spring from a 96" engine so wife can pull the lever with her neuropathy

Dennis, if she likes a 20 oz or 32 oz cup with lid, straw and protectors, the Butler cup is working great for me. I have mine mounted on the right side handlebar. It angles up so it clears the tank with no issues. Keeps ice in the cup for 4+ hours if ice from home, not the thin ice like at MickDee's. They make a mount for the back seat for a passenger. I have most everything that all of you above have..and then some...I put the new heavy duty chrome hinges on the tour pac lid the other day..did it myself.. kind scary drilling out the old rivets...but I did it and what a difference in the stability of the lid. No more rattling and shaking around and tighter fit when latched. I highly reccomend 'em. I am sure they added at least another 10 HP and improved the handling in the curves too. And they look much better than the old ones.

    Trent,
We all know speed cost, just hard to figure how much we need to spend!
Guess we can find it with allot of add ons

Haha!!! Well,,the parts guy at my dealer showed me a new thing coming out next month, and he said as soon as they saw it, they all thought of me. It is a heavier duty tourpac lock with a lid on it to keep the crap out. He told me I get the first one that comes in. Cant wait to install it and increase my fuel milage and higher end torque. It looks really good too.

Watch out for the retractable tourpac tether. If it starts to fray, it WILL fail. Mine did and I was very fortunate not to have any cracks.
In addition to the stuff everybody already mentioned:
I have hog trough drink holders on the lower fairings. Both sides. They were very handy on my cross country trip.
Jerry's front fender mud flap, also very useful on my cross country trip.
Russell Day Long seat, my feelings about it are well documented in a few threads!
Mirror riser extensions. They are a must to help see over the top of the shoulders.
Mustang passenger back rest. Longer arms make it a comfortable backrest.
    Wardspartswerks FCS fans. They rock!

    Wants:
    Bumper
Jagg 10row fan assist oil cooler
BAL-3 or similar LED tail lights
LED fender light and turn signals
Motolight LED caliper mounted driving lights.
    Better speakers and an amp

Some cosmetic and some performance related (the bike was a dog as delivered from the factory) on my ’09.

    1. Clear View 8” smoked windscreen. I can see over it but am still out of the wind.
    2. Bumper and rack on tour pack to improve looks.
    3. Decatted head pipe (mine’s a CA model).
    4. Vance & Hines mufflers with quiet inserts for stereo friendly sound.
    5. Stage 1 air filter and custom fuel map.
    6. Adjustable back rest. Pricey but it works.
    7. 1¼” lift brackets. Best mod so far.
    8. Air horn.
    9. Bushtec trailer hitch and harness.
    10. Redline V-Twin transmission oil with shockproof®. Not really a mod but a definite improvement.

I'd like to change the bars to help with my bum shoulder.

Kurakan cup holder between the tour pak and speaker has worked out great for passenger. I do not have a cup holder on my magnetic lower doors. That would not work as they hinge from the bottom. I have a cup holder mounted to the handle bars, can't remember brand but it works good on the reverse control side.

As "trip" season is over for wife this year, I will look at these holders for her over winter.
As I have a bagger bar now, guess I have plenty of room for my holder.
Forgot to mention I also have Jerry's front fender mud flap.
    Thanks.

Fuel moto's four item kit- ceramic coated headpipe, dyno tuned mufflers, stage 1 air box, and the PC V tuner. 1.25 rear lift kit and the tour box lift kit from Dennis. 10 inch Windvest wind shield. All mods very satisfied with although a 9 inch shield may have been a bit better. I can see over it but have to sit straight up. Probably better for my posture anyway lol.

Can you help me with some info about Jerry's mudflaps?
