Default Goldwing Conversion Motor Trike Adventure

I am currently ordering the Motor Trike conversion kit for my 02 Goldwing. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

Motortrike makes a great kit, feaver! Be sure you request the rake kit be done as well. Without it, the steering is much heavier and more difficult, but with a rake kit, the trike steers easily (although you should expect 200-500 miles of riding time before the steering feels "natural" to you since you have been riding on two wheels for some time.

By the way, you are in my immediate area. Keep an eye out for my blue/white V-rod trike and flag me down to say hello

    Hey Feaver,

I am currently on my Third Motor Trike kit / Trike. Had a straight axle on my 2003. IRS on my 2008 White and now my 2008 Red Goldwing. Had a couple of issues BUT MotorTrike stood behind it. I will say it's all about the installer. Can make or break a good ride I think you will enjoy the ride.

I am currently ordering the Motor Trike conversion kit for my 02 Goldwing. Any opinions or advice would be appreciated.

I converted a little over a year ago and now have better then 20,000 on the trike. Nope - don't set still long. The rake kit is money well spent. It's a world of difference. Did you get the IRS or solid axle?

Best accessories to add if you haven't already is the Baker Hand and Trike Wings. Air management is even more important then with a two wheeler....

As for advice...... Practice - Practice - Practice..... Find a parking lot ( one with islands is extra nice) and get comfortable.

The rake kit will help sooooo much.

Too bad you won't have anything to compare so you won't know how easily the steering is. You may feel a bit uneasy for a while but give it 1000 miles and it all becomes second nature. If you haven't already done so, read the thread at the top of the Honda forum about handling corners and curves ( http://www.triketalk.com/forum/honda...s-curves-1065/ ) . There is a bunch of good advice there.
I would strongly recommend two things: 1) Get the AquaShields, which are a real "comfort" feature. You can then take off your pegs and can put your feet directly on the floorboards. Combined with highway pegs, you have lots of riding positions. If you decide to take off your pegs, don't unscrew the entire unit--just remove the pins, leaving the mounting unit in place or the big gap that's left just doesn't look good. 2) Get the on-board compressor. I know it's expensive, and if you don't want to pay the high price, consider installing an after-market one later. I am about to get one because, after 5 years, I am tired of having to pump up the air shocks every couple days. What a pain! When I got my trike, I thought I'd hardly ever need to adjust the air, but the shocks lose the air pretty quickly. Also, I have to pump them up when I have a rider.

I have a little compressor from Harbor Freight that plugs into my lighter, but it will sure be nice to be able to control the pressure with the touch of a button!

On board compressor comes standard with the order i did, i also got the aqua shields.

Im hoping i ordered everything i need. Im looking at a six week turn around but I think it will be worth it. They sent my side cover off for color matching today.
Thanks for the advice.

I've had mine for 1000 + miles and love it. Mt factory did my install and did a great job. Aqua shields are great to keep your feet from road stuff and a rake kit is a must. Still enjoying mine, just like the first time every time but better!
