It has been my experience that any ride on the BRP is a great ride. We had a bear cross the road in front of us once, I don't remember where we were. Going to try to ride it again in Sept or October.
Had an amazing weekend! We left home (Kingsport, TN) Friday morning and rode to Cherokee, NC. Spent a little time and money at Harrah's Casino. Got up Saturday morning and after a little shopping, hit the Blue Ridge Parkway. We rode the Parkway to Asheville, making frequent stops for sightseeing/gawking at the awesome views, and stayed Saturday night in Asheville, NC. Up Sunday morning and back on the Parkway, again with lots of looking at the amazing views, then stopped for the night in Blowing Rock, NC. Up Monday morning and back on the Parkway to Wytheville, VA. Left the Parkway and took I77 over to downtown Wytheville. Spent the night and got up Tuesday morning, went to Black Bear HD in Wytheville, then hit Hwy 11 (Lee Highway) to Bristol, a stop at Black Wolf HD, then on home. Around 600 miles total.
Not a huge distance, but a great ride.

We did the Skyline Drive and the Parkway in May and absolutely loved it. Thinking about trailering the Trike to maybe Boone or Blowing Rock and spend a few days checking out the fall colors.

Brought back sweet memories of that entire area from the 70s. Was on four wheels, but it was/is some of the most beautiful country in the world - and I've seen lots! Grew up in East Tenn & western NC, called Waynesboro, Va, home for a long time. Gorgeous area to ride, visit, photograph. Would love to see folks' pictures to refresh my memories!
If you do watch out for a bunch of Texans... Several of us are leaving here on October 3rd then starting the ride south from Front Royal on Sunday the 7th. I really wanted to wait another week to start but some of my co-riders don't get along will when the temperature gets below 70. Hopefully the leaves will be partly in color by then.... I'm like an old race horse..... I can still run the race -- Just ache more at the finish line and need more rest between outings.
Rode the parkway last year and loved it, well except the part where the clouds came in and you couldn't see twenty feet in front of you. Pulled off the road and didn't know until we got off the bikes we were in a visitors center parking lot. That part of the country is some of the best riding I've every done. Hope to make it back some day soon.
Ordered the trailer last night, should be built in a week or so. Not sure when we are heading to the Parkway..a lot depends on the color change. I hear it gets pretty crowded during the fall. Have to look over the Parkway Travel Guide and pick out a good location to stay for a few days. I personally think the southern half of the Parkway is more scenic and interesting. Keep me posted on your plans maybe we can meeting up.

Going to come back home to Florida via part of the Blue Ridge Parkway first part of October. Only problem is bike will be on a trailer as we leave our summer home in Wisconsin we are really loaded down. We are going to stop and stay in Cherokee for a night and Helen Georgia for 3 nights so will unload the trike and head up to the dragon and part of the Blue Ridge. Looking at getting on the Parkway from I 77 also.
