Issues with installers

I have noticed in several threads the continual complaints about installers. After having done an installation myself this summer-I fail to see why so many people have had problems with "proffessional installers". It just seems logical to me that if you have the kit designed for the bike, it gets bolted on properly, and lined up right-there should not be a problem! Seems like a few botched jobs, and the liability would shut them down.

On second thought-I just paid a transmission place 125.00 to pull the pan on my truck differential and put a new gasket in because of a bad leak. It leaked worse when I got it back-called the shop and they wanted to keep it 3more days to redo it. So I did it my self, and found out they stripped two bolts. I guess I just answerd my own question- some people can screw up a wet dream!

Sadly, there are a few installers out there who don't treat each trike build as if they were going to ride it themselves. Fortunately, there are a lot of great installers out there who turn out awesome rides for their customers. The trick is taking the time to find the right one

what gets me is mistakes happen, why not just own up fix it and get on with the job. Usually it ends up coming back to be repaired correctly anyway.

I thought I was reading a thread on a satellite forum for a minute.

But the shop that installed the CSC kit on my Electra Glide did a great job. If I ever have another kit installed I will use Everett again. And I've already recommended him to another person wanting a CSC on a GW.

WELL I guess it is the same with everything. I am a semi-retired tattoo artist, and I spent many years fixing so called "professional work". I just never could quite figure out how a person can hang a sign, be really bad at what they do, and make a living at it.

CSC's installation requires two separate rides by the installing technician. I think they are 80 mile rides. The purpose is to wear in and seat the installation, and check the components. The first ride is without the bodywork!

Amen to that, just own up to it and do it right.

I agree!!! Most of the time.

There is that rare occasion when the installer is just not up to snuff and misses the same problem over and over. I had to take my Motor Trike conversion back a couple times and got most issues fixed. To be fair I don't know if even an experienced installer could have caught what I finally found to be the vibration cause (more in separate post later on that subject) but missing or incorrect hardware is inexcusable.

My installer finally sold out and moved on. Probably a good thing for all concerned.

The installation is done correctly but things like tie-wrapping and properly securing wire harnesses, using silicon on access hole where wires pass through to avoid water penetration and general cleaning and dressing are overlooked. To me, that shows a person doesn't take pride in their work. Drives me nuts!

Not allways a mistake, comes down to lack of knowledge.

Just don't know how.
