Curious......waiting for my ventura conversion for my 2011 Victory Cross Country 106 vtwin.

I run 20/50 Amsoil instead of the 15/40 Victory synthetic by choice, some say it will slip but never have found that myself although the bike is stock stage1.

Now with the added weight of riding 2 Up and the CSC conversion, is this a possibility? Do most of you guys have to go to a different clutch or spring?

I see many of the RG's seem to go that way along with an easy pull setup.
Do many of the brans after to change something with their clutch's?

Hey Salty I am not an engineer or an expert but I have owned a lots of twins, several Harleys no Victorys. Is there a specific reason you are running 20W50 instead of 15W40?

The 20 or 15 is the weight of the oil when starting and the later is when it reaches operating temperature. IMO either one is fine depending on what part of the country you live in. I prefer Amsoil 20W50 for my twins. I always ran the HD oil in the primary. Does the Victory have a separate primary?

If you call Amsoil Technical assistance they will give you good direction. They know their stuff and will warranty any failure caused by their oil. I would follow their recommendations. Of course the dealer is going to say run their oil. Is it full Synthetic or Semi-Synthetic?

Harley told customers for years that synthetic oil would cause the roller bearings to slide instead of roll and the ignorant ones believed that. They also stated it would void your warranty and we all know the Magnuson Moss act, so bottom line they were full of crap and it all boiled down to money and greed. The truth was HD wanted to make a killing by selling their cheap crude oil and over pricing the H*** out of it. Funny now that Harley sells semi synthetic with a HD label on it and has full synthetic Amsoil on their shelf for sale at about $13.00 a quart.

This is a great question-I am also curious about clutch problems with trikes, and if springs should be replace or a heavy duty clutch installed? Or if stock holds up with:Shrug: the added weight of the kit?:wave4:

Just always used 20/50 synthetic in my HD's so.....

Victory is semi synthetic 15/40. Victory engines are noisy and I thought the am soil might help run cooler and Quieter. Now just wondering with the extra weight is all.
Easy enough to go back to the Vic oil

Victory as only one oil spot, no separate primary or tranny

Hi Salty, if the Amsoil you are using is the MC variety you should be fine. In regular Amsoil motor oil their are detergents and/or anti-wear additives as per the required specs for regular motor oil, that can cause premature clutch failure.
As for the clutch, the stock clutch should be fine. If you find it wears out early, you may want to look into :

They have lots of modification products including a Barnett Billet clutch plate kit that is good for up to 160 HP. There is also a variable pressure plate assembly that uses a series of centrifugal weights to add pressure as your RPM increases allowing lower clutch lever force at low RPM. They also sell Pingle electric shifters.
I have had a PittBoss since I lost my left foot after getting T-Boned. I should have installed an electric shifter because my foot was often sitting on the back of the heal-toe shifter without me knowing due to my prosthesis, causing a shift for to wear out and break :-(
I installed a 106 out of a Vision Premium I bought, that had been laid down, for $5000 in order to get up and going quicker. I now check to make sure I am not resting my foot on the shifter.
