Hey All;

Will I have been LURKING around the site for a while so might as well introduce myself. Was Labor Day weekend 2007, a good day to be riding the Harley Wide Glide, enjoying the back roads of middle Tennessee, next thing I know, (4 days later) woke up in Vanderbilt Hospital missing my left leg above the knee.

Lady crossed double yellow line and over I went. So 18 months, 26 days 5 hours, 37 min (OK not sure on the seconds) of trying to figure out what I want to do with my life, I went an ordered, then waited and waited and waited and then finally pick up a 2009 Fat Boy with a Motor Trike kit installed.

(Been watching others on the site here wait and wait and wait for theirs rides and felt their PAIN as they waited and waited for it.) Well the first 40 miles of riding (Down Natchez Trace Parkway an easy road to re-learn to ride on and not much traffic) I was fighting the trike big time and worrying about all kinds of things, got to a point I just wanted to get off and give the thing away.

Then I had a long conversation with myself (I do that quite often) and got back on, relaxed, and the ride home was so difference. Only have 500 miles on it now, but being back in the wind is absolutely priceless. Went through some twisty the other day and the trike just STUCK to the road, the more it stuck the more we became one, oh what a feeling. One of the problems now is how to stop smiling to keep from getting bugs in my teeth while riding.

when I was visiting a trike shop there was a guy who just arrived to pick up his brand new trike. He had a few goes on the flat and then hit the junction. what did he do? He tried to put his feet down. You never forget do you!!!!

Mr Ed, glad U came out of the Closet :eek:
I think it really takes a good 500 miles or so to get used to the trike, but the more U ride the more U love it....
As far as talking to yourself hey I do that all the time, sure cuts down on the arguements :yes: of course the wife thinks I am crazy, but she stays with me anyway. Hope you enjoy the board feel free to jump right in and post some pictures when U can....

That was a really quite a story... Glad you are still with us. The more I ride mine, the bigger the smiles become. It takes practice, but just keep riding easy roads and you'll be venturing all over in no time. Welcome to Trike Talk!

Ed, So glad to have you join us! Before I got the trike, I had ridden bikes all of my life so to speak. One of my concerns was that I would be trying to keep up with the bikes on our group rides. One Sunday we were running through some twisties when I noticed one of the ladies on her trike was behind me. I sped up and she stayed right there just sitting behind me. When we stopped, she told me that a couple of times she thought she was going to have to pass me....:eek:

So Mr ED how did they solve the shifting problem. missing your Left leg. I know someone with the right leg that is bad he just doesn't use the foot brake at all. Welcome aboard and great that you are still in the wind. i will add 500 more miles to what Katefish16 said

Heyho Mr. Ed! Glad to see you here, lots of good info and great folks. John asked the same question I had while reading your intro. My first thought was a Pingel or Klicktronic electric or air shifter. Great to see that your experience didn't sour you on getting in the wind.

JuJu - sometime I am a big horses arse (Well that’s what my friends say, but what do they know) so maybe Mr. Ed the horse and I have something in common, never can tell and yes I do remember the show.

Reksul - now see this is why I keep coming back to this site, to get ALL this useful information on how to do things, I now know how to whiten my teeth and keep bugs off of them at the same time, go figure. You know it’s the little thing that makes ridin so much fun.

Ozarkryder - it is a Klicktronic electric shifter, the only problem I have is remembering which button to push, RED to down shift, Green to UP shift. While sitting at a stop keep pushing a button, then when I let the clutch out almost stale it, was pushing the wrong button not looking at what I doing @)#^)!$#!&@.
