Went on our first camping trip this past Wednesday with a new Aspen Ambassador trailer. Initial journey was to a Kansas state park about 40 miles from home. Wind was 20-30 MPH out of the south, most of the time at 90 degrees to travel. I was able to keep the whole thing at 65MPH most of the way except on hills, where it dropped to 60MPH. The motor is just a TC88 with no modifications.
We (wife and I) had it loaded as we would travel on a long trip, maybe 50lbs less. I guess the trike weighed 1200lbs with both of us on board, and the trailer 450lbs. I was particularly surprised on how well the whole thing behaved in the cross winds. It was steady as a rock, maybe more so than with no trailer. You know it's windy when gusts hit you and cause your head to rotate 30 degrees or so. I was totally satisfied with the trike, except for the power --- it needs more, which it will get this winter with a big bore kit and more.
Only real negative – got a head cold that night, and have to have cataract surgery Monday. Nurse said it they would go ahead if no fever. Dang.
Excuse the creep in the picture -- I tried to paint him out but it would have taken me all day.
