Does anyone have experience with the new Harley tour pac hardware?
Is it heavier duty then the OEM hardware?
Easy to install??
Looks nice but I'm not spending money on just bling - it has to be beneficial in some way.

I bought the 'black' hardware but I believe that it is the same as
came stock......never have had any issues with the stock ones.
Just wanted the black to match me rig, ha!
Gary,,,I have the new heavy duty hinges...installed 'em myself and it was fairly easy...you have to drill out the rivets that hold in the old ones. Just take a deep breath and do it. Ha Ha! They are more solid than the OEM's,,,do not rattle, dont flex when the lid is open, make for a more snug fit when the lid is closed. Look really nice too. I like 'em. May do the new latches too.
Gary, not that hard to do just take your time fairly simple. If I remember right I had to drill out the holes a little larger.
Best to have a helper to hold the lid as you work on it.
I had to drill the holes a little larger too. And an xtra set of hands is the way to go alright.
Did both sides . The lock side ( when locked ) will still come up about half inch . Need to see if there is a shorter arm I need to purchase .
A suggestion. I've had 2 friends loose their tour pack lid to a gust of wind. The 'stock' cable that holds the lid from opening too far snapped out of the bottom fitting and let the lid swing open. The hinges didn't break, the fiber glass did. Cost a bunch to fix. They (and I) replaced the cable with a chain of equal length. Not sure if that helps, or we have become overly cautious about opening the lid.
Good Luck.

I just finished installing hinges and locks. had a little trouble getting the keyed latch lined up right ( put my iPhone in the tour pack and recorded a video with the lid shut and me trying to turn the key) now it works great and does not move at all when locked.. I wouldn't call this an easy install but if you take your time the directions are very good and easy to follow.
Are these "heavy" duty hinges a Harley part? Thank you!
