Broken Bolts

I have read a few posts about broken bolts in the suspension areas of trikes. I cannot understand why Stainless steel hardware is frequently used on any trike or motorcycle. I bet your problem is an SS bolt-they are very brittle and will sheer off, under repeated stress. SS tends to be more reliable in a thickness of 5/16" and up-but never on moving point of stress. Replace it with a good grade 8 bolt and you should be good to go.ThumbUp

I believe there is no excuse for a bolt to be broken while in service. If the engineering was done correctly, then the bolt should outlast the steel around it.
If there is a problem with bolts on a specific trike, then the manufacturer of the trike kit should have a recall and replace the "bad" bolts before they cause an accident. If an accident is caused by a faulty bolt then I would think it would be grounds for a lawsuit.
You make a good point by bringing this up so other trikers on the same kit are aware there may be a problem.
