Repair of your Stallion....

I have a 2010 Stallion and have had minor things untill now. We were coming back from Jackson Ms and the Stallion down shifted into a lower gear at 60 mph at 4000 rpm. Pulled off and the check engine light also came on and the OD light started to flashing. Had it checked at Auto Zone and said a shift senser (Po715) is bad. My transmission fluid is also dark. My warrenty ran out back in June of this year. They think it is internal. Going to carry it to a ford dealer in Milan Tn. this Tuesday. Hope that it is not inside the transmission for it will be costly.

Just wanted to remind any Stallion owners out there if you are having a hard time finding someone to work on your Stallion, I was the Lead Technician for the Stallion at TBMS for 3 years. I moved to Arkansas to be closer to my children. I know the Stallion from front to back, and top to bottom. I have all tools necessary to repair any problem with your bike. If you are in the area, or not, give me a call and we can get your bike fixed.

I am an authorized repair shop also. I work out of a shop, not my house, and can accomodate any repair necessary. Dont trust your bike to just anybody, give me a call and lets get you back on the road! You can even ask Stallion owners on this forum as well, I know what I am doing. Feel free to message me anytime. Thanks again....Kevin Perkins

Kevin, have you heard of anyone else having problems with their A/C do to the a/c line rubbing at the top bend rubbing together the radiator and the condenser line on the right side where the right tank folded and is seamed I have a bad leak , I was told that it could be a fitting but after removing the right rear tire and recharging the system I could see and hear the Freon leaking out.. the trike only has 7000 miles on it

Sorry for the late responses guys, I was locked out of my email address for months, and finally got it back. Yes, I have had experience with the lines rubbing each other and causing a hole causing all refrigerant to be lost. The line has to be replaced, and then "tweaked" to prevent them from rubbing again. Not a common problem, but I have dealt with it before. Hope this helps

Kevin

2009 Stallion

Hi Kevin,

I don't know if your online or any other stallion repair techs are. I'm looking to take my 2009 to a stallion repair shop. Need 50k mile service. Replace plugs, I want to replace all 3 tires, replace fuel filter in addition to all the 50k mile service maintenance stuff. oil/filter change etc. Inspect for any other services needs like breaks/ shocks etc. I can bring it to your shop if shop still open for repairs. Any other techs if you have service recommendations where to get stallion service I'd appreciate pointing me in the right direction to find service.

Welcome Mike. Why don't you contact MotorTrike in Troope Tx (just down the road) and see if they will work on it. After all they built it.

Let us know what they say

I spoke with Motor Trike; They were real nice; explained that in 2020 they took out all there Stallion tooling and replace with fiberglass production for current trikes they are building. I asked if they knew of any shops still repairing Stallions. As it turns out there are only two left in the US. One in Fort Worth, TX and the other in Indiana. I'm no where near Indiana so didn't care to get the info on that one however the one in Forth Worth is called Bikes to Trikes and they still do full repairs on Stallion Trikes. The guy told me a horror story about someone taking theirs to a shop that said they could repair and completely botch the job; lost part and couldn't put it fully back together. OMG why would a shop say they can repair when they have no clue of what they are doing? Anyway I will be taking mine there.

So, are we still going to be able to get parts for our beloved Stallions, or have they just become throwaways? Rick

Since 2013 was that last year for Stallions and Ford Dealers only keep parts for 10 years. If you want spare parts need to get them now. If you know what parts that actually are. Nothing listed as stallion parts as I'm sure you know. All parts came from various Ford vehicle. Steering, Dash, engine I believe all came from the Ford Ranger. Gas tank fill lines gas cap I believe came from Ford Mustang. Brake pads, rotors, etc I believe came from Ford 500. Don't quote me just what I've heard and collected data. If anyone has a complete list that would be awesome. Since parts came from other various ford vehicle you'll likely be able to get parts for some time. It's the repair shops now no one will touch them. If you can do your own repair your in better shape than those who can not and need a mechanic.

I was talking about the parts that were specific to the Stallion. There are some that weren't Ford, Toyota, Acura or BMW.

I purchased the Stallion with the top on it 8 years ago. It came from the Seattle area and the original owner had it made to keep the rain off him. I was going to remove it, but I like being in the shade when it's 115 here in AZ. Rick

Rick what I remember. The taillights are from a 2002 Acura. Front brake pads from a Toyota FJ but the calipers are custom I believe, the mirrors are from an early BMW but I forget what years. I don't remember any other item that was commercial stock but not FORD or custom.

Thanks Ted. I know about the taillights, mirrors and brakes. I do know that the front rotors and calibers were specific to the Stallion and I'm sure that there were a lot of other parts also. I had my trunk latch cable break on a trip and had to take out the license plate light to get at the cable to release the trunk. I put a tie wrap on the emergency release handle and left it hang out so I could close the trunk and get back into it. Since mine is an 08, I was lucky that Richard found a latch assembly as they are different from the newer ones and I couldn't find anything at a junkyard. Rick
