New To Triking

As I posted to the Honda site earlier today, I have ridden since the 1960's but will ride my 2004 Wing tomorrow with a new CSC conversion kit. I know that it is a completely new experience, and my first 125 will be on I 71 riding it back from Louisville to east of Cincinnati.

I have about 30 minutes of real experience on trikes, so I'm a bit cautious. Any "words to the wise" out there?

Welcome to the world of 3 wheels! I would plan a few minutes to spend with your trike in a parking lot and a slower moving dynamic. Just to get a feel for the steering and get comfortable on your new trike-it is neither motorcycle nor car-a completely different animal!

Welcome! I see you are within about 30 miles of me or so. Ride your own ride. Practice in parking lots. You've got a great ride. You'll get the hang of it....just takes a little practice.

OK Charley- the world wants to know how you came to this realization?

You're best learning on a mixture of curves, straight roads, etc. It's easy to get on the interstate in a straight line for several miles and forget you're on a trike, come to a curve, and years of learning kicks in and you try to countersteer....that will get your attention in a hurry. That was the hardest and longest thing on a trike I had to get used to. Living here in Florida we have to go a long time before seeing a curve sometimes.

The more miles on 2 wheels,the harder it is on three.But hang in there and it
is well worth it.IMHO

Just a followup; I sure wish I had changed my spark plugs BEFORE I converted my Wing. I project that usually took 35 minutes took three hours with the trike running boards and trying to get to the footpegs. Now, I've got it down pat.

After about 200 mi you will be comfortable set tight and enjoy !!! Welcome aboard...
