GL1800 2012 Champion or Leman?

Hello,

Which kit would be better for passenger comfort?
My wife road on a Tri-Glide and it was very uncomfortable for her.
She said her spine hurt from the bumps.

My Honda dealer can do a Champion or Leman kit. Leman being straight suspension.

I am 5'6" with a 26 1/2 inseam. Honestly, I am thinking of selling my new 2012 because the dealer told me it would be lower that last years and I purchased site unseen. It is Pearl White.

Thanks

Frank

I'm sure others who have Champion or Lehman conversions will chime in soon. But I can tell you that both Roadsmith and Hannigan have longer wheelbases which places the rear wheels behind the passenger supposedly making for a more comfortable ride. My better half is very comfortable on our Roadsmith. ThumbUp

This is an ongoing debate-straight axel or IRS. I think the Lehman would be an easier ride for you to get used to. But if you are doing a lot of touring, the wife will be a lot happier with the IRS system! rmrc51 brings up some very good points with other brands-but I would go with brands your dealer has experience with. Good luck!:D

Frank I am vertically challenged myself, but don't think it matters on a trike. The ideal thing would be to ride both and then decide.Good luck.RIDE SAFE

All I can tell you is that last year I had a gl1800 Lehman which was so uncomfortable for my wife on the back that we sold it after less than a month. I don't know about Champion but we have put over 26,000 smooth and trouble free miles on our gl1800 Hannigan since the middle of January this year and my wife is HAPPY !!

Road Champion, Mototrike, Leman, Roadsmith ...

Roadsmith won hand down .. The independent suspension, Accu-trac
suspension (computer controlled Progressive Air Shocks) in rear,
Mustang rear end, Automotive Disk brakes in rear (VW Type II), EZ steer
w/5 deg rake, Progressive springs in front ... 5gal Aux Gas Tank, and I also
added Ultimate Seat .. I can normally run about 155 miles or so without
stopping unless the wife has to pee .. heheheh ... My wife has had 3 major
back surgerys and has no problem with the Roadsmith w/Ultimate Seat ..
Have to bungy cord her in because she has gone to sleep on me a couple of
times ..

The wife and I have been doing the test rides and have tried the TriGlide several times but we were not convinced it was right for us so we continued testing. We have been on the IRS and found them to be very comfy on the Wing and the HD. Since Lehman is back in business we wanted to check them out. We found a dealer near by who had a 08 Wing and a 07 HD Ultra both converted to Lehman Trikes. We found both Lehman models to ride very nice and I really like it on the Wing; we have not made up our minds yet but we found that we would not rule out the Lehman solid axle over a IRS. The Lehman HD model seemed to ride nicer than the TriGlide.
