    Default Cycle bashing

    Oct. 18,2012

Since I have been practicing journalism for the past couple of years I decided to put it to good use. I am NOT a journalist but I do love posting articles on the internet. Harley bashes Honda , Honda bashes Harley, Harley bashes Canam, Canam bashes Honda, Honda bashes Canam & Canam bashes Harley.

This is just like all the comedians out there that make tons of money by cutting up other people and also lots of religious jokes. That is what makes the world go round. LOL. Do the Honda riders bash Harleys because of how they look or how the HD riders look ? Same for all the other riders. I see myself as a sunday driver type who wears regular sport clothes for riding. The only thing I wear that reminds me of a motorcycle rider is the helmet.

Did I forget to mention the "Crotch Rocket Riders" ? I forgot all about them in ALL my articles. Now they are a crazy bunch living on the edge 24/7/365. I am surprised that there aren't more Ninja riders who end up as hood ornaments on the front of Tractor Trailers and automobiles. I don't want to see that happen to anyone, but the risks these guys take is nuts. Ah, to be young and fear nothing. LOL. I did notice that the Ninja's don't harass any of the other motorcycles. Are they the normal cyclists or are WE ?

    Live, Love and Ride safely....

I think "bashing" is a result of natural competitiveness, and lack of understanding as to why someone would pick what they do. Mix this with a dash of "someone taking themselves too seriuosly as a bike rider" and you get "bashing". Of course you can also have those that just engage in friendly bantering... that can also be mistaken for "bashing". Me, I'm somewhere in that last group, but really don't care what you ride...just ride it and be friendly.

I want to thank everyone for their feedback. Bottom line is that all of us love to ride. I am glad people drive different types of cycles. This gives us much more to talk about. We buy what we buy because we like what we see. They are ALL good machines made by great manufacturers. The more they are made in the USA the better I will like them. No more manfacturing in China. We NEED the jobs here. We are a great country and we CAN build great products to appeal to everyone out there. Kudos to all the motorcyclists out there, no matter what brand you drive.

Harassing eachother is fun as long as we are doing it in jest and not trying to hurt the other person. Freedom of speech is what our country is known for. Let's not abuse it.

It's funny how people drive all kinds of different cars and no one cares one way or the other. We all buy what we like and we don't care whether the others like it or not. That's why they make so many different kinds of cars, trucks and motorcycles. Everyone wants something a bit different then the other guy. I don't like having the same things as everyone else. It's fun to be different.

I try and follow this......although it's sometimes hard to do......

    BIKERS CREED:

I ride because it is fun.

I ride because I enjoy the freedom I feel from being exposed to the elements, and the vulnerability to the danger that is intrinsic to riding.

I do not ride because it is fashionable to do so.

I ride my machine, not wear it. My machine is not a symbol of status. It exists simply for me, and me alone.

My machine is not a toy. It is an extension of my being, and I will treat it accordingly, with the same respect as I have for myself.

I strive to understand the inner-workings of my machine, from the most basic to the most complex.

I will learn everything I can about my machine, so that I am reliant upon no one but myself for it's health and well being.

I strive to constantly better my skill of control over my machine. I will learn its limits, and use my skill to become one with my machine so that we may keep each other alive. I am the master, it is the servant. Working together in harmony, we will become an invincible team.

I do not fear death. I will, however, do all possible to avoid death prematurely. Fear is the enemy, not death. Fear on the highway leads to death, therefore I will not let fear be my master. I will master it.

My machines will outlive me. Therefore, they are my legacy. I will care for them for future bikers to cherish as I have cherished them, whoever they may be.

I do not ride to gain attention, respect, or fear from those that do NOT ride, nor do I wish to intimidate or annoy them. For those that do not know me, all I wish from them is to ignore me. For those that desire to know me, I will share with them the truth of myself, so that they might understand me and not fear others like me.

I will never be the aggressor on the highway. However, should others mess with me, their aggression will be dealt with in as severe manner as I can cast upon them.

I will show respect to other bikers more experienced or knowledgeable than I am. I will learn from them all I can. However, if my respect is not acknowledged or appreciated, it will end.

I will not show disrespect to other bikers less experienced or knowledgeable than I am. I will teach them what I can. However, if they show me disrespect, they will be ignored.

It will be my task to mentor new riders, that so desire, into the lifestyle of the biker, so that the breed shall continue. I shall instruct them, as I have been instructed by those before me. I shall preserve and honor traditions of bikers before me, and I will pass them on unaltered.

I will not judge other bikers on their choice of machine, their appearance, or their profession. I will judge them only on their conduct as bikers. I am proud of my accomplishments as a biker, though I will not flaunt them to others. If they ask, I will share them.

I will stand ready to help any other biker that truly needs my help.

I will never ask another biker to do for me what I can do for myself.

I am not a part-time biker. I am a biker when, and where ever I go. I am proud to be a biker, and hide my chosen lifestyle from no one. I ride because I love freedom, independence, and the movement of the ground beneath me. But most of all, I ride to better understand myself, my machine, the lands in which I ride, and to seek out and know other bikers like myself.

I just bought our trike this summer, after renting two Tri Glides and test riding a GL 1800 twice. I went with the Honda, but I really don't care what other people ride, and I would never criticize anyone, at least not seriously, for their choice of rides. I really enjoy talking to people about the pluses and minuses of their particular bike or trike, and really enjoy looking at other machines. I am just thankful that I get to live in a country where I have so many choices, not only in bikes, but in everything.

Yesterday I saw where GM hired some workers recently for about $17 an hour, much less than what the union was hoping for. It didn't say where these workers would be located, perhaps it was outside the USA. It was recently announced that the most american built car is the Toyota Camry.
That tells me how times have changed! It should be noted that Toyota plants in the US are not unionized, I found that interesting because the workers didn't want it.

I would think that if a company in USA could start up with worker salaries in this same range it would encourage more motorcycles to be built here. I know that in my area, folks would love to work in a place that paid $17 an hour with good benifits.

I have thought about it ands I'm thankful when a foreign company wants to manufacture its product in the USA and provide all those jobs with good pay that will be spent right here at home!

Sure, those foreign companies make a profit, as they should. But that profit goes right back into the world economy which means they are buying American-made products among others.

I do not feel un-American in the least for buying a foreign label like Toyota, for instance, which was made in Georgetown, KY. By doing so I am supporting American workers.

The "buck = $" really does stop here.

It was my understanding that any of the larger displacement bikes, i.e. pretty much all our trikes, were made in the USA, no matter what company name is on them.

Yes and no' Honda moved the production of Gold wings back to Japan a few years ago. So the newer ones aren't, and the older ones were.
