I have never known a bike that I disliked , now people that's another issue ! I do find it interesting that many call metric bikes "rice burners " Why is that ?? Do they know the Japaness eat less rice that we do in the USA ? And Rice is not the main diet of the Japaness !

Well My humble opinion is who ever bashes anyone or anything was just born Stupid... and ignorant. Some may love to ride but can't afford the more expensive toys.. or they like the model etc.. That's WHY they make different ones. So I say RIDE ON.... and I'll leave you with this.. "IF" somebody has to talk or bash others they have to "THINK" about them and what a waste of time don'tcha think?

The last GL 1800 made in the same factory was the 2010 after that transistioned back to Japan that is why we have no 2011 goldwings. As far as the HD folks, HD makes a good ride but in truth it is not even close to 100% made in the USA HD buys and manufactures parts around the world. Did I mention who the largest stock holder of HD is ......I'll let you think on that one.Do I like a HD hell yes they are sharp !!!

That's what most folks don't think about. We live in a free market world, most all large companies, automotive/cycle included, are publicly traded/owned. Folks from around the world own stock / pieces of these companies.

And I too, love the look and sound of the HD's. I just opt for the longevity of another manufacturer.

Yeah, I know a guy that says the same thing. But he doesn't care if his shirt is made in Thailand, his pants in China, his appliances in Mexico, his tools in
Taiwan, his furniture in Norway, his TV in China, or his jacket in Vietnam, but for some reason is bothered by folks who ride motorcycles produced overseas. I guess we call that "selective concern". Life is just too short to worry about things that we have no control over, and as we age I think we learn to enjoy life as much as possible and leave the worry to the younger crowd.

    I concur.

Thumper just might want to check out where all those accessories and chrome parts come from in the local Harley dealership. I see "Made in China" all over the store these days.

What's wrong with bashing other peoples bikes ? .... most of the time it's all in fun .

I think all bikes are great, even those with funny names.
But I think Harleys are a cut above all the others, as most serious riders do.

I also under stand why many of those with bikes with funny names come here,..... I'm sure it's to enjoy being in the company of the elite [Harley owners] .

The bikes with funny names all want to look and sound like a Harley, but they always come up short, but I cant blame them for trying, God bless um.

All above was meant to be a joke ...I've owned them all, their are no bad bikes, my 1st was a 1950 triumph 650 that you only had to kick start it about 3-4 times and you were on your way, no radio, no GPS, no gas gauge,
no intercom, no extended maint. plan
    I love um all .

I am shocked you would make a joke about my rice burner with the funny name. In your defense, it is a fact that 87% of all Harley's ever made are still on the road (the rest made it home).

My practical joker friend sometimes has a small supply of rice with him and sprinkles a little on the ground under a "funny name" bike's engine. He'll then point it out to the unsuspecting owner and say something like, "I know you don't get oil leaks, but you seem to have some other type of engine leak - better check it out".

Hey, it doesn't matter what you ride - having your "knees in the breeze" is all that's important.

Well...you got me there on the 85% still on the road, you would think they would want to go home and get some rest also, I guess their just having to much fun .

I kid the Harley riders telling them all they have is a "motorized muffler!" My son has one and my kidding is good natured. I noticed that the crotch rocket riders never wave and I think its because they are afraid to let go of a handle bar. I ask owners of new Harleys if they got a map of interstate bridges they could pull under to work on their bikes? rofl

I own a Goldwing because it fits me.

I own a Harley because it speaks to my soul.

I don't have an excuse for riding a trike,
    and don't need one.

As a rider for the last 45 years I have been and seen almost everything you can imagine. In close to 400,000 miles on two wheels and 40,000 on three I have seen the "only one kind is better than any other brand" types all along the way. From Honda's to Yamaha's then Kawasaki to Harley's for the last 100,000 plus miles i have learned it is not what you ride but that you ride. I have been in the HOG group for the last 20 years and I tell them all that when you ride the "best" you do not know what others are experiencing, AND THAT IS THEIR LOSS. Ride to enjoy the environment, the smells, the road, when you ride to impress others you have lost the reason to ride.

I think Cycle Bashing is mostly all in fun .
It reminds me of my time in the Military, I would call my fellow members in the Marines, a Jar head, or devil dog, and the ones in the Army a dog face, and those in the Navy, deck ape's, and they would call me a Zoomey ,
we would all laugh and then have another beer.
It was all in fun .

But, I do think we as serious trike riders realize that Harleys are just a cut above all those bikes with the funny names .
