2012 GL1800 ROADSMITH and CSC OWNERS

I have a CSC and the main thing I don't like about it is the drive shaft which I plan on changing out to the Mountain Trikes type(so far no issue with my drive shaft). But the newer CSC kit has a different drive shaft arrangement and hope that fixes the issue. They have also have improved the trunk hinges and increased storage space.

Not sure what u are looking for but if u have specific questions, would be glad to answer them.

Roadsmith owner here. Love the simplicity of the trailing arm suspension, the Accuride auto leveling system, aux. fuel. The longer wheelbase makes for a smooth ride and easier entry/exit for co-rider. Have been very happy with quality and build.

You should test ride any trike you are considering. Most important of all is to learn about installer. The wrong installer can make any trike a problem.

Any prospective Trike buyer needs to pay particular attention to the last sentence. Do your RESEARCH.....I'm going through the bad installer problems now.

cmore, could you give information on the mountian trike drive shaft. I have one of the first 2012 csc kits on a gw. Should I be worry about the drive shift in mine gw?

Thanks
Phil

Phil according to CSC and a technician I talked with the 2012 kits are completely revised with a new drive shaft. The factory drive line is gone. All concerns corrected.

Chazzman I sure hope you are right because I like the look of the 2012 Viper best of all, but have been put off due to problems with the drive shaft.

Its was completely changed for the 12 model. Only time will tell if this change will be the "fix". The prior fixes turned out to not be complete fixes.

Here is some more infor on the Mountain Trikes fix.

Who Had Drive Shaft Welded on CSC and other Questions

I have the 2012 CSC Viper kit. There are no drive shaft problems. Any questions, call CSC's phone # listed on their website. They will answer any questions you may have. I love mine!

I have a new CSC kit on my 2004 Wing. I love the larger trunk and haven't had any problems with it, but I've only been able to put 1000 miles on it since I got it back 2 weeks ago. It seems I get a little vibration at higher speeds, but I'm not sure whether it is just my imagination or not. I agree with what the folks said in the above posts; the installer is the key. I used a company over 125 miles from where I live and this guy does 35-40 conversions a year and knows his stuff. It was worth the travel. My local dealer said he did it as a " sideline" and that didn't sound too good to me.

Marcia, the Viper is a very beautiful kit, it looks like it came from Honda. The trunk is easily accessible and huge. I love the new rear led bar across the bottom, did you get that? The curb lights in the front are nice, it's just one awesome kit for sure.

My understanding is that on the older CSC's they were using part of Honda's drive shaft and part of their own and the drive line inclination was off, here is where the welding came in. The new redesigned one piece shaft does away with the Honda shaft and lines up correctly.

You have a beautiful 'Trike'.

Yes, I have the rear leds. Love them. And you're right, lots of room in the trunk. CSC designed the kit to compliment the bike, as if it were indeed manufactured by Honda. Any problems I had were installer problems. They've been corrected now and all I need is warmer weather! I am still going to find some good days to ride yet this season though!

I know its not a Honda, but I love my CSC conversion. The quality of the kit is superb, and my installer did a wonderful job. I've had no quibbles with the kit at all, and would gladly do the same again. ThumbUp

The Roadsmith and CSC kits are both good. I ended up with the Roadsmith. One of the big differences between the two, in my opinion, is that the CSC handles like a Mustang and the Roadsmith handles like a Cadillac. The Roadsmith has a little bit of yaw in turns, leans slightly, where the CSC does not. After a few miles under your belt, you will not notice the yaw. The Roadsmith is stretched out a little more, my wife actually sets in front of the rear axle and gives her a better ride. Anyway, this is just my opinion, but we love our Roadsmith. We now have put about 9000 miles on her this year.
