Hurricane Sandy

That's OK Leo you'll be fine, but I would suspect the seas will be a "little" rough when you set sail.
I hope the inslands you are sailing to won't get hit by Sandy, becuse it is going to make a mess of everything she touches!
Have fun and eat plenty of lobster on your trip!

Rosy, Yes, expecting rough seas. Jeannette was considering canceling some of our excursions, but we can do that up to 24 hours prior. Looking forward to some lobster. ThumbUp The break will be nice. Thanks!

I cancelled a cruise several weeks ago for health reasons of my wife which left Port Canaveral Fl. heading to the Bahamas and Key West this Monday. We're sure glad it worked out for us. The ship can change plans and course, but it can't avoid the rough seas. There talking 30' seas just off the Florida coast.

"For the view on the right, elevations below 5 meters (16 feet) above sea level have been colored blue, and lighter blue indicates elevations below 10 meters (33 feet). This is a dramatic demonstration of how Florida’s low topography, especially along the coastline, make it especially vulnerable to flooding associated with storm surges."

Leo,
You won't be around for the big snow storm which is coming with Sandy. This is going to be another "Perfect Storm", from what they are saying and up to 1 billion dollars in damages. I know some of the people here and Maine have all ready started to work on their cottages along the ocean fronts. They say the tides are going to be huge because it is hitting at the same time as a full moon and that is the higest tides possible.
I have taken steps to help me with Sandy. I have put on my gutter extentions on to drive the water futher away from the house foundation, put all my lawn chairs away, took down the birdbath, brought all the potted plants closer to the house and locked my pool pump house so the glass doors won't fly open during the wind storm.
To alll who are expecting Sandy to visit, GOOD LUCK and stay safe!

Rosy, I'm sure the captain will wait until it is safe before leaving port. We have ordered more sea sickness patches. Won't miss the snow one bit. A little concerned about losing power to our home during this storm. Oh well, will deal with whatever when we get back. Thanks for the reminder about putting things away. Need to clear our deck. Best wishes to everyone who may be impacted by this storm.

You guys have a great trip. Last time I was on a cruise the most wonderful thing happen to me. I was on the rail looking out over the ocean as we were cruising along and I noticed something in and out of the water, I finally realized they were flying fish. I would have missed the whole show if I was in the pool, or at the bar. I looked up and down the side of the ship and I was the only one there, so everybody missed it. I tell you what, they can travel a long distance out of the water, WOW!
You got any beer in your refridge, if you do I'll stop by and make sure everything is fine and if you loose power, I'll make sure your beer doesn't spoil, what are good neighbors for!!!! pepper

Hey John ,some of my favorite rides are to the Southern Maine Coast. makes sure you stop at The Maine Diner in Wells and ride the Shore Road from Ogunquit to York Beach. It definitely would be a great place for a rally. Be safe with the storm heading your way.

Definitely take care of yourselves with this storm moving in! And please let us know how it goes for you!

A lot of our NE TT Rally people are in the effected path. Please check in we worry about or new friends. Be carefully out there in Penn and Ohio also. It is going deep into land fall

Makes me glad I have a Natural gas powered stand by generator, I grew tired of wheeling the little generator out doors and stringing cords. I have a 14kw generator that starts and transfers to power the whole house all automaticaly. Normally when the wind blows good my lights go out.

very nice setup there mike. nice to have that power transfer when it needs to. those systems are getting very reasonably priced also lately.

The piece of mind is well worth it, the best part is I paid $900 less than they normally ask for them at Home Depot. The local Home Depot had ordered 3 of them for someone who didn't pick them up so they discounted them to move them along.
