Hey! A Water Buffalo! Mine was purple (Suzuki called it Candy Lavender or something like that) and faded from being stored outside, but the rest was pretty clean considering it was 8 years old and almost always parked outside. Also a '72, got mine in 1980, was in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Rode as much as possible, but the riding season is pretty short as the UP has 4 seasons - Winter, June, July and August. Because it was so faded, I called it Purple Haze. Sold it in '86 when I moved. I was told it died later that year when it was parked on the street, got covered in snow and was wiped out by a snowplow.

I wonder if i dug through enough picture boxes i could find a copy of my my 1972 Suzuki.
I chopped it and rode it for 12yrs. before selling it.
God i really did enjoy that old scooter.
It actually looked decent to.
Paul c.
love that it had the 4 leading shoe front brake. I got the front end off of a wrecked one and grafted it on to a BSA Rocket 3.It looked so much better then the stock BSA front end and it actually stopped.
Happy TRAils/NSD

You have stretched my memory on the brake shoes to far i'm afraid.
I haven't thought of the BSA. in a long time.
I will always remember the one up stretches of truth between which was better, Norton or BSA.
I do seem to remeber lucas electronics though!
the old joke was why do english drink warm beer?
Because Lucas also makes refrigierators!
There was still room in the market for the Harley 350 sprint. ( suprisingly it would grap some scratch on the back wheel in two gears)
Jappenese bikes still weren't a big threat at the time.
In truth i really think they came on hard when AMF took over Harley Davidson. ( new AMF harleys were having some real breakdown issues.
That was why i bought that old water buffallo).
650 yamamha, 750 honda,750 Kawasaki triple and the 900 cow came om really hard.
At least they were simple enough for the backyard mech. to work on.
Makes you wish you could be like Jay Lennox and have one of all the old ones?
