Victory Crossbow conversion

Hey Bob-I have a recentley accquired Victory Pitboss Trike. I know it is a different animal than the crossbow. I am dissapointed in the whole Victory experience, there is not a plentiful dealer base. What is really bad I think, is the fact that the Victory dealers do not know how to work on these rare trikes. Mine is an 2007, the only Vic dealer is 30 miles away. the battery just died three weeks ago (normal for a 2007). Normally I do most maintenence on all my bikes &trikes, but I could not get the battery out due to the emergencey brake placement-so I trailered it to the dealer, and they actually did not know how to replace the battery in it! What ended up happening was two weeks in the shop, they actually pulled the body to remove the ebrake assembly to put the new battery in it! I was charged 539.76 for the clustercasm (4.2 lABOR HOURS plus the batt). I have since found out, if you get the trike on a lift, and remove the left wheel-you can squeeze in and remove the ebrake assembly-should have taken an HOUR. This is not meant to be a bashing post-I just feel you should be warned about the weak dealer base, and the fact that they just don't have much experience working on trikes. In retrospect-I wish I would have taken it to the local trike conversion shop-I bet they would have approaoched it more competently due to experience on trikes.
This just my experience so far-you might want to consider other options unless you have Vic dealers in your area! Good Luck

Hello, Thanks for your reply! There are a few Victory dealers around me here in Mass.....but I know from experoence....when they see a trike roll in they freak out! My BMW desaler stopped working on trikes all together. Is yours a Lehman Trike conversion? I am trying to sell my BMW Hannigan trike.....and buy a Victory....but its not the best time of year to sell a bike. Thanks again, Bob.

Yes Sir, mine is a factory built Lehman conversion. It is similar to the solid axle on the HD TG, if I am not mistaken. I in no way meant to bash the quality of Victory with my post, I guess it is hard for me to not have dealer options and availability. I have always ridden HD and other more popular brands-Victory trikes are rare animals!

I am reading that the Crossbow has "shake" when going at slow speeds. Is this something that you have experienced? Is this a Lehman thing? Thanks, Bob.

Absolutely, mine has "headshake".but from what I have read this is normal for a solid axle, and stock rake in the steering. I hear that you can get used to it, bu it will take me a while. I think a little headshake is common sense on the solid axles, because there is no flex in the rear end, and it has to flex somewhere.
My issue with it is, my only other experience is on a indepentant suspension. I really think the IRS adds a cadillac feel to a trike, as well as increasing wheel base through adding rake in the tripple trees.

COPASETIC on here has the Victory Cross Country with CSC Trike conversion. My own Cross Country is currently in for the trike kit. They have independant suspension as opposed to the solid rear axle and they also have the 8 degree rake out front, and ground effect running boards if you like.

I think thye are better then Lehmens Vision conversion personally. I have owned a Vision but it was a 2 wheeler, great bike as a 2 wheeler.

I am looking forward to the XC conversion to 3 wheels and I know for the handfull that have them allready...they love em. Ask COPASETIC here.

Might be a great aleternative to the Crossbows..oh and the reason there are less dealers for victory is...you dont need them much. The dealers #1 complaint is they dont get to see their custumers very often after the sale. My closest dealer is 1 1/2 hours away and the next is 3+ hours. I had a check up once before a 9000km trip on the XC. I Also own a Victory Kingpin that hasnt seen the inside of a Victory dealer (or other) except 1 oil change while on the same trip of 9000kms. Excellent bikes!
