Whats my problem??

I am trying to understand why its not important for me to wear motorcycle apparel. I see folks wearing clothing that makes them look like billboards.<br />
When I went to the large box store the other day they had caps for sale with their business name on it. If they gave it to me, I would probably wear it.<br />
They are asking me to pay for their advertising???? I guess its good business.<br />
One of the local cycle stores had a "T" shirt for $69, of course it had a cycle name on it.<br />

I guess I have said enough. The good thing about it is, I am not laying awake at night worrying about it!!!!!!!!!

Business has done a very good job with convincing us to pay to advertise their product. How about the dealers name being put on that car you bought?

A "T" shirt for 69 bucks??<img src="images/smilies/AGGGH.gif" border="0" alt="" title="AGGHH" class="inlineimg" /> That must have been SOME special shirt I guess. But I have noticed that the average price of t-shirts is around the 30 dollar mark. I still get a lot of mine at thrift stores.

My Goldwing-Roadsmith trike has become an essential part of my personal DNA, but I shy away from brand-specific clothing, whether it be "Coca-Cola", "Tommy Helfiger" or even "Honda". I refuse to look like a walking bill-board. When I get off the trike, I look like an ordinary citizen, totally distinguishable from the person festooned with bike-specific duds.<br />

Well, my favorite ball cap does have an embroidered image of me on the trike - but that was a gift!<br />
<br />
But that's just me. On the other hand I rather enjoy seeing the Harley guys and others in colorful bike gear which provides a lot of manufacturing employment for citizens of the poorer third-world countries. Their biker dress code becomes a kind of humanitarian charity.<br />

Well, although I don't wear "advertising" when I get ride I do look like the quintessential "biker" when I do ride......but then that's my personal preference and definitely not everyone's cup of tea.....<br />

I dont wear a single thing when ridin' that has any company name on it. If I walk in a destination that I rode to, someone might think I rode a bike there only because of my black boots. That is all. Oh...I do keep a baseball cap in my tourpack that sez "Moosedrool" on it. One of my favorite beers made in Montana. Now, that is all.

I think it is kind of a "COOLNESS" factor for most people, or may a fashion statement. My only complaint is, I hate to see a guy on a Honda sportin a HD teeshirt, not because Honda's aren't great bikes! I wear a lot of sturgis and HD teeshirts, and don't recall paying more than 25 bucks for any.<br />
Seriously though, there is a dude in the MC club here that rides a Yamaha Virago. His jacket is HD, and he wears HD teeshirts-it just ain't right!<img src="images/smilies/shrug.gif" border="0" alt="" title="Shrug" class="inlineimg" />

I don't have the Harley logo on anything that I own. Even though my chaps were purchased at a Harley dealership when they had a helluva sale going on. I took the logo off since I do not ride one. I refuse to insult those that do. Just something wrong with that.<br />

Sure hope you guy on the Virago never runs into the "wrong" sort of bikers.......they could take a rather dim view of that.....<br />

The ride last weekend I wore my Harbor Freight gloves. Wrangler Camo pants with long johns, Diehard boots from Sears. Hoodie sweetshirt and Flannel jacket from a dicount close store. Uvex Bandit $6.00 safty glass and taped my sleeves and pants legs down with electrical tape. Went about 300 miles and I wouldn't have changed a thing. Thats who I am and how I dress.

When you were finished with the ride, you could have climbed in your attic and installed some insulation!! Killed 2 birds with one stone!! Ha ha!

As a newbie here Im a little late to this post.
But
Ive refused delivery on 2 new cars over the years.
On every contract Ive signed I tell the sales person.
Your not paying me to advertise your dealer ship.
If you put on any permanent dealer name plate on my new car that makes holes in it.
You can keep it!!!

The 1st time was in 1982 I had one of the 1st Thunderbird Turbo Coupes.
On the contract was in BIG print. No Able label is to be put on the car.
Underscored the whole bit.
Able Ford was the dealers name.
Guess what they did??

Got some HD shirts,all given to me. (Well, my wife has bought me a couple, but I haven't for myself) Long ago a girl I was dating at the time gave me a Harley belt buckle. Wearing it ever since 1984. Only belt I own. Gloria originally got herself a Goldwing Millenium jacket, wore it once and lost 60 pounds. Traded it for a smaller one but it didn't fit - worked for me so I inherited it.Great jacket. Wish they made it without the big Goldwing across the back.

I usually wear event or organization shirts, but only ones I have attended and belong to, like the Rally in the Valley V, Trike Talk, FORR, Mid-South M.I.L.E. or The Davis Rally.

wearing event or organization apparel, to me, is different. That's showing what you support. Not "branding".

99% of my clothing is POW/MIA related and I don't feel that is "branding"......

I have heard of this before, but I don't get it...Do you take the "Ford", "Chev", "Dodge", whatever, emblem off your vehicle too? My ride wears the "Honda" emblem with pride.
